Added A Skylight to My Home Today

I was home alone in the bedroom today pondering what I should blog about. Lo and behold, the answer came from above.

A large boom and a shake the size of a mini-earthquake got me to my feet. I looked around to see what the commotion was and discovered a large tree limb had made entrance through my kitchen roof.

Luckily, my landlord was across the street and I ran out, sight unseen, to let him know of the situation. After some small talk, he inquired if it just happened.

"Nope, happened last week but didn't want to bother you with it." Here's your sign!

Hey, I can gaze at the stars from inside my house tonight!

After calling my supervisor at dispatch to get some advice, the fire department was called out to make sure there weren't any power lines down since power to my kitchen was out. FD gave the all-clear and the landlord removed the large limb with a chainsaw. Tomorrow a crew comes in to repair the hole in my ceiling.

My teenage daughter found out by phone and went into cardiac arrest, bawling and worried that we were going to be homeless or that I was trapped inside, left to die. I'm sure that some of that had to do with her being a drama queen, but it was nice to know that she still cares. If even for a day.
