Creations by You - My Masterpiece Review

My son, Adam, loves to draw, create, and color. He's no Picasso, but his artwork means the world to me. Creations by You has activity kits to make pieces into personal, prized possessions that will be treasured for many years. There are kits for both children and adults.

Once we received My Masterpiece in the mail, Adam jumpstarted on creating his own work of art. The kit has the materials needed to make a masterpiece out of a drawing. It took a while for Adam to decide what he wanted to draw but he finally decided on drawing an RV, for his love of camping.

The My Masterpiece kit includes extra drawing sheets and order forms in case of any mistakes or errors. Adam went through a couple of them because he wanted to make more than one creation, then let me decide which I liked best. With this kit, we had the option of doing a mail-in production or online production. We choose to go the old-fashioned way and mail our order in, along with Adam's artwork.

Adam drew his picture and gave it a title, then I helped him with the ordering information. All papers are included and instructions are thorough on what to do. I noticed that there's a lot to fill out and detailed steps to take, so I had to help Adam with the ordering process. He had the option of having his work turned into framed art or a museum poster. He chose to go with the first choice of framed art. He chose gold for his frame color, out of the handful of selections available and went with the option of having it printed like simulated canvas.

Once the art page and order form was complete, we mailed all of it back to the company in the pre-paid postage envelope. A small return shipping fee is required on all orders, so it did cost us a little bit to have this returned, at the price of $2.95.

Additional, optional services and products are available if you so wish. For instance, if you'd like that particular artwork turned into a mousepad or puzzle, it will cost you extra. It will also cost extra if you'd like it in plexiglass. We didn't do any of the additional services, so our total cost was for the return shipping fee.

Normal production time is about 3 to 4 weeks from when Creations by You receives the materials, and an additional one week for shipping. It does take a little bit of time to receive the final product back, so that's important to keep in mind. It does not take as long to receive your finished item with the Internet Production because the order is received as soon as it is completed.

Adam anxiously awaited the return of his artwork, and was giddy when it finally arrived in the mail. His finished piece is in a gold frame, with a plaque at the bottom indicating the title of his piece, his name, and the year. It is made to look like simulated canvas. Hardware was included on the back to hang it up, and his framed masterpiece now hangs in his bedroom. He is more than happy with it, and I like how it will always showcase his love of camping.

While browsing through the Creations by You website, I was impressed with the thorough description of what is included in each kit, how much it costs, additional options, and other pertinent information. They are quite thorough in letting you know what you will receive and how it will turn out.

I also received two other kits from Creations by You and will individually review them, with opinions from two of the other kids.
