Insulting A Mother's Children - Oh No You Didn't!

I don't live in a bubble and I'm not immune to the fact that there's cowards who hide behind the facade of a computer, bashing others and practicing their right to "free speech". However, it goes beyond the lines when said coward does it to children.

Let me begin by saying I rarely get on Facebook. Although I'm sure it'd help my blog stature, I don't know enough about that part of social media to get highly involved with it. Checking in and scanning recent top posts from family and friends is usually the extent of my Facebook involvement.

A friend came over to my house earlier tonight to visit and casually asked me if I had been on Facebook as of late. Um, nope. Apparently my sister entered a photo in a contest that Nerf is having on their Facebook page. It's an innocent enough photo of four children posing with Nerf guns, in Charlie's Angels style. My two sons, my step-daughter, and my nephew are all in the photo, acting goofy and having fun after playing in the field at camp. From my understanding, the photo is in the running to win if comments are left and the photo is "liked".

A number of comments have been left, not all of them positive. A couple of people who's parents obviously didn't raise them right have left demeaning comments about my two boys, with them ranging on the less hurtful side of making fun of one wearing red shorts to the extreme side of calling them gay.

Oh no you didn't!! You obviously haven't met the wrath of Terrabitchia.

Seriously, why would anyone who has any self sense of respect ever outright post stuff like that on the Internet, or even think to say it? High school pettiness within adults is one thing. Downgrading children, especially those you don't even know, is a whole new level of pathetic.

I'd be the first to say that they do look kinda goofy. It's meant to be a goofy photo, nothing more and nothing less. Logan looks like he's going for Gangsta's Angels instead of Charlie's Angels. Awkward! However, they are children, not adults. Calling them gay or other demeaning comments isn't necessary.

To those people with low self-worth and no life who are leaving unneccessary comments about my kids on the Nerf page, maybe I should thank you. After all, the more comments, the better chances of winning the contest. At least do me the favor of "liking" the photo after you make yourself feel better by being a butthead. That'll better the chances and maybe give you something positive to do with your life.

People are innately mean. Some people can keep that neanderthal part in check but unfortunately some people can't. I'm sorry your kids had to be the subject of that.

I don't understand mean people, especially when they are hurtful to children.

I think it is a cute picture and I am very sorry that demeaning comments were left.

What. The. Hell. Sorry for the language, but seriously?? This stuff makes me so angry. I visited the page to see what was going on and was glad to see the posts were deleted...possibly by Nerf themselves? If that was the case, then you know the comments were inappropriate. I love how the two guys were so indignant their posts were being deleted and accused Traci of not being about to take sarcasm. No dudes, you were being mean for no reason other than to make yourself feel better about yourself. I hope that helps your egos, making fun of kids. And really...you are on Nerf's website, commenting on photos of kids with nerf guns...how cool can you be?? Ugh. I need to go clean something now because I am all wound up.

You tell em girl! How childish people can be sometimes.I know it sucks to have your family talked about that way, just try and remember you know how fabulous they really are!Ignorance is bliss...sometimes it takes alot of stupid to make someone happy with themselves.

So many people out there are rude and childish. I have a video on youtube of a Kelloggs cereal review that I did with my kids. Mom Central wanted us to do a video, so I did, and people leave nasty comments about my kids. So I put a comment up saying, not to say anythign about my kids, I'll just delete your comment if you do. Say whatever you want about the cereal but leave my kids alone. It really makes me think twice about everything that I'm posting about my kids

what jerks! I agree kids are off limits to evil, disparaging and foul comments. Some people are just idiotic.
Awhile back I was lurking on another blog and read about a homeschooling family with a blog that had received terrible comments about how the kids would turn out from being homeschooled. It was just ignorant and mean spirited.
I will gladly 'like' the photo if I find it.

There is nothing wrong with the picture!! Evidently some people enjoy hurting the feelings of others. I will gladly like the photo too if I find out where it is. Tell your kids they are a great looking bunch!!

THat is just wrong and I agree especially when it comes to people. I do not understand why people do this, it's sad. I'm going to go find this photo and like it because it is a fun, goofy photo of kids! Not sure why people have to do this, sorry Terra

Oh that is just wrong on so many levels. I would be so ticked! I'm a strong proponent of "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all." I see nothing wrong with this picture - just kids being silly. What a bunch of losers. It just makes me mad thinking about it! Meanies.

Is voting still up? I'll go vote!
