Fur and Feathers - Children's Book Review and Giveaway

Book Synopsis:

Janet Halfmann and Laurie Allen Klein team up to create an imaginative tale about animal coverings and classifications. When Sophia dreams that howling winds whisk the fur and feathers right off her animal friends, she shares some of her clothes with them. But her clothing doesn't work well for the animals. Seeing their disappointment, she offers to sew each one the "right" coat. Animals line up to explain what they need and why.

My Review:

The illustrations in this book are detailed and seem to bring the book to life. Children will enjoy reading or hearing how Sophia makes plans to make things right for each animal. This book, in addition to all books by Sylvan Dell Publishing, includes a section in the back to open up discussion. This particular book goes into detail about the scientific classification and skin coverings of animals. There is a list of questions that parents can ask their child for educational and communication purposes. There are also resources available online for this book title such as teaching activities that will help further the experience of this story. This isn't a book that you read and quickly close. Children can learn about animals in addition to being entertained by a captivating story.

Terra, thank you so much for the wonderful review of my book and thanks for pointing out the many activities to extend the book at Sylvan Dell Publishing's website. Thanks also to all the visitors who have stopped by and visited the publisher's website. Fur and Feathers is my second book for Sylvan Dell—Little Skink's Tail was my first—and all of their books are wonderful!
