Nutella Hazelnut Spread Mommy Party - #Nutellaparty

Anybody that knows me knows my love for camping. It's what me and my family do every weekend for seven months out of the year. Coming up with different ideas for meals, especially breakfast, while camping can be a challenge. The kids wake up on the weekends and they're ready to go, go, go. But I know that breakfast is important for them any time of the week. It helps keep them charged and feeling good throughout the day. Sometimes we'll go all out and do all the fixins' for breakfast. But sometimes we're ready to start the day and want something simple, but delicious.

I've heard of Nutella before, but have never tasted it. So having the opportunity to try it was an exciting experience for me. For those who aren't in the know, like me until recently, Nutella is a hazelnut spread made with roasted hazelnuts, skim milk, and a hint of cocoa.

Each 13 oz. jar of Nutella contains more than fifty hazelnuts and Nutella does not contain any hydrogenated oil or trans fat. It contains no artificial colors or preservatives, nor does it contain peanuts or peanut ingredients. Nutella does not contain any ingredients derived from gluten containing cereal and it is a Kosher product. Nutella is touted as a breakfast food, and I agree it tastes delicious spread over bread or other bakery items. I also think it would made a great after-school snack.

I had a small, informal Nutella Hazelnut Spread Mommy Party at my camper Sunday. I invited a few fellow campers to try Nutella and give their overall opinions of it. We were all looking pretty rugged but none of us cared about looks. We cared about getting the party started and seeing what Nutella was about. Of all the guests there, only one had tried it before.

Each guest received a goody bag. Included was Nutella spread sample packs and coupons, tumbler mugs, spreaders, and tip cards. I also received a 26.5 oz jar of Nutella hazelnut spread to use.

In attendance were six female adult guests, two adult male guests, and three male children.
Everyone used their sample packs of Nutella to spread it over a piece of sliced bread. A few opinions included:

"Mom, can I please have some more? This stuff is good. Are you going to take the big jar home for us to eat?" - Logan, my 12 year old son

"This would be good spread over waffles and syrup. I also think it would taste great to use for dipping bananas in". - Sue, a camper

"I don't hate it but I don't love it. Too chocolatey for me". - Darrell, a camper

"I had no idea about Nutella before. I'm going to go to the store with my coupon and buy some. I think it would spread easier over toast than it does bread." - Mama Rees, a camper

"My granddaughter's daycare uses Nutella as a snack food. They spread it over bread. My granddaughters like it so much at daycare that their mom has been buying it for a while now."

As for my opinion, I thought it tasted a lot like the center filling in Ferrero Rocher chocolates. Upon further research, I found out that Nutella is made from the same company. After trying Nutella, I think it is a nice companion for breakfast. I wouldn't recommend eating a lot of it at once because it is somewhat high in carbs and fat.

I've passed Nutella in the store many times before without any thought. Now that I've tried it, I have no qualms about purchasing it and making it a part of our breakfast meals.

I received products for review on behalf of PR agency. The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way. Please do your own research before purchasing products. Your opinions and results may differ.

How fun! :) Here in germany Nutella is practically a food group all of it's own! It would be pretty much impossible to find someone who hadn't grown up smothering their bread and toast with it. It tastes really good! I am glad you had such a fun party. :) Welcome to the family of Nutella lovers!
