On the Set of Tooth Fairy 2

I've had the privilege of working with ThinkJam and FOX since almost the beginning of my blog. I felt honored to have been a part of a blogger's group to visit the set of Tooth Fairy 2 and interview some special people on March 8th. It was a whirlwind of firsts - first time in Florida, first time flying, and first time on a movie set.

Tooth Fairy 2 is the sequel to the original; however, it will not star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. This film's leading actor is Larry the Cable Guy. Tooth Fairy 2 will be distributed by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment at a release date not known at this time. Tooth Fairy 2 finds Florida car repairman and one-time Metro County Miracle bowling champ Larry Guthrie (Larry the Cable Guy) having one bad day. He just learned his ex-girlfriend, schoolteacher Brooke (Erin Beute) plans to marry his arch-enemy, a local politicial (David Mackey). When Larry shows up at Brooke's after-school program to talk her out of it, his big mouth lands him in trouble as he inadvertently breaks the news to a child that the Tooth Fairy is just a myth. Now, unless Larry collects 20 teeth in 20 days, the Tooth Fairies are going to erase his greatest memory. And unless he can prove to Brooke that he's a changed man, he's going to lose her forever.

The first night in Florida I met with two people I've emailed and known about online, Jennifer Lang and Wolf Schneider. These two representatives are super nice and made me feel welcome. I missed out on the first night's dinner at Emeril's but had a fantastic time at the other events.

Crusher laying down upon command

Shauna, of Trying To Stay Calm, with Crusher

The first half of our planned day was spent in a production holding room where we met with and interviewed people involved in the film. April with Birds and Animals Unlimited spoke with us about her career as an animal trainer and introduced us to Crusher, a pig playing a part in the movie. It was interesting to see how April used commands and prompts to get Crusher to do certain tricks.

Meeting with other bloggers and getting to know them was refreshing. I was already a follower of a couple of bloggers before meeting them. But getting to see their faces and intereact with them was nice. I also enjoyed meeting with ones new to me. It seemed that we all got along and interacted with each other well.

Producer Alan Blomquist, whose credits include Walk the Line and Chocolat, meet with us to answer questions. He gave insight on what a producer's job is and how he came about getting involved with Tooth Fairy 2. He has worked with Dan Whitney (a.k.a. Larry the Cable Guy) in the past and held our attention with stories about Dan as well as his own works.

Clad in camo pajama pants with a personality that instantly puts you at ease, Larry the Cable Guy came in for short periods of time between filming to speak with us. Although we tried hard, we didn't get to see him in his pink tutu and fairy wings. I'll admit I haven't met a lot of actors, but Larry doesn't have a big ego or lots of drama that you read about. He's down-to-earth, cares about his family very much, and was a pleasure to talk to. He made you feel like you were one and the same. He spoke about filming Tooth Fairy 2, his past works, and his family and hobbies. He admits that he ad-libs a lot while filming and that he enjoys bringing humor to people's lives.

We were taken in small groups to see the set of Tooth Fairy 2. It's absorbing to see how everything comes together from a small movie set to the big screen. There's a lot of work that goes into it.

Tooth Fairy 2 has the same premise as the original, but will have a different main character and different scenes. Me and the kids can't wait to see the finished project.

I received hotel accommodations, travel, and food expenses on behalf of PR agency. The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way. Please do your own research before purchasing products or services. Your opinions and results may differ.
