My Way! Toothbrush and My Way! Toothpaste Review

Getting my kids to brush their teeth isn't as hard as it is for some parents.  But the funner it is, the more excited they are about it.

Celebrating the unique personality within every child, the My Way! line of oral care products is extending beyond Arm & Hammer Spinbrush MyWay! for Girls with Arm & Hammer Spinbrush My Way! for Boys and Orajel Kids My Way! Toothpaste. The My Way! Line offers kids the opportunity to creatively express themselves at the bathroom sink while encouraging better oral care habits.

The Arm & Hammer Spinbrush My Way! for Girls battery-operated toothbrush launched in 2010. It quickly became the number one kids battery-powered brush on the market. Recently launched, the new Arm & Hammer Spinbrush My Way! for Boys is a battery-powered toothbrush that includes more than 140 boy-centric stickers which can be used to customize the toothbrush's handle. The water-safe stickers feature sports, robots, skateboarding, fierce beats, and awesome vehicles. In addition, each toothbrush includes a set of letter stickers so that guys can put their name on the handle.

Playful personalization of the brushing experience is extended beyond the brush to include toothpaste, as well.  Orajel, the number one selling fluoride-free toddler training toothpaste, now has its first-ever fluoride toothpaste with the launch of Orajel Kids My Way! Toothpaste.  The 3-oz. pump provides a blank canvas to be decorated with some of the 120-plus water-safe stickers included in the package.  Appealing to both girls and boys, Orajel Kids My Way! Toothpaste comes with more than 100 stickers all kids will love like animals, sports, rocker, and princess-themed designs.  Each tube also includes letters so kids can "sign" their name to their creation.

Since receiving the Arm & Hammer Spinbrush My Way! for Boys, I've been asked by my girls and other son to "please, please, please" buy them one.  Adam has been using the one we received for review and he's got it all decked out with stickers, including his name.  The stickers apply easily and come off when he wants to put new ones on.  Adam's never had a battery-powered toothbrush before and he thinks it's "totally awesome" compared to a manual toothbrush.  He seems to be more meticulous with his teeth now.

The toothpaste is fruit flavored and all but one of the kids seem to like the flavor and texture.  I personally like the pump style of the toothpaste.  All the kids share toothpaste, so it hasn't been personalized with any name stickers, but I've let each kid decorate a portion of the pump to add their own flair.  I can see how children would be more enthused to brush their teeth with this line of toothpaste and toothbrushes.

June is Men's Health Month - GNC #Giveaway

When I first met my husband I told him that I'd take care of him until the age of 35, then I was putting him in a nursing home.  He'll be 35 next year!

All joking aside, I love my man and want him to take good care of his body and health.  Aside from the rare times that we don't get along, I imagine growing old with him.  I just recently found out that June is Men's Health Month and I've found a lot of information that I'm going to pass on to Jason so he'll have better chances of staying healthy and putting up with me longer.

Anchored by a Congressional health education program, Men’s Health Month is celebrated across the country with screenings, health fairs, media appearances, and other health education and outreach activities.

The purpose of Men’s Health Month is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. The month of June gives health care providers, public policy makers, the media, and individuals an opportunity to encourage men and boys to seek regular medical advice and early treatment for disease and injury.

One company that carries vitamins, supplements, and super fruits to help your man lead a healthy lifestyle is GNC.  GNC is the world's largest company of its kind devoted exclusively to helping its customers improve the quality of their lives.

Did you know that 50% of men will develop some symptoms of an enlarged prostate by the time they are 60?!  GNC carries prostate health formulas and capsules that help promote normal prostate function and healthy urinary flow.

CoverGirl NatureLuxe- #imabzzagent Review

I've worn CoverGirl cosmetics for many years and have a favorable impression of the makeup brand. Thanks to BzzAgent, I was able to try the new line from CoverGirl, the NatureLuxe collection.  Included in this collection is different shades of foundation and gloss balm.

Features of the Silk Foundation:

Provides a smooth, silky feel

Contains refreshing cucumber water to help balance the creaminess on application

Made with hints of jojoba and rosehip extracts

Available in 14 shades ranging from light to dark tones

Oil-free, SPF 10 and dermatologically tested

Features of the Gloss Balm:

Combines the sheer color and shine of a gloss with the soft moisturization of a balm

Available in 16 versatile, beautiful shades

Formulated with SPF 15 for added protection

As for the foundation, the shade I received was a little light for my skin; however, it worked well to smooth out my skin tone and the application was effortless.  The foundation itself does feel silky soft on the skin.  It does not feel heavy or sticky on my face.  Once this foundation runs it course, I will be going and purchasing it in a darker color.  The gloss balm looks darker on the stick than it does on the lips.  I like the color when applied and it has a mild shine.  It's not sticky and stays on my lips for some time.  The twist applicator lets me choose how much I want to apply.

I received products for review from BzzAgent.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products.   Your opinions and results may differ.

Keepin' Company Thursdays - Week 46

I am ecstatic to announce that my friend at camp, who I've posted about a couple of times, has been declared cancer free!  This is major news for me because she's a wonderful lady and because I've dealt with the heartache of cancer many times.  It's good news to hear and I hope she truly has defeated it.

It's the start of Memorial Day weekend for me.  I will be camping with my family, enjoying all the activities planned.  Hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day too!

Educational Insights - Talking Electron Microscope Review and #Giveaway

Educational Insights, a manufacturer of educational toys and games, has provided many hours of play to my children. Educational Insights products include subject-specific classroom products, teacher resources, educational toys, and games. Their products are designed by seasoned educators and parents who know that, first and foremost, learning must be fun.  Right now they are sponsoring a California Dreamin' Sweepstakes on their Facebook page for the chance to win a trip to Los Angeles to view a live taping of Jeopardy.  The lastest review and giveaway I'm doing for this upstanding company is for the GeoSafari Talking Electron Microscope.

View 180 super-magnified images of sixty different specimens with the Talking Electron Microscope.  Learn interesting facts about each image in Learning Mode, then test your knowledge in Quiz Mode.  View amazingly detailed images of the human body, plants, animals, viruses, and more.

Features of the Talking Electron Microscope:
LCD Screen to view microscopic images
Quiz Mode to test your knowledge
Learning mode full of facts
Volume Control
Image advances
Answer selector buttons

This talking microscope is full of neat facts and images.  My kids are in awe at the different slides they can view.  I'll admit that my husband and I have even spent lots of time with this microscope.  Some images include the human eye, cross section of a pine needle, dental floss with plaque, table salt, newspaper print, and lots more.  In learning mode, we can learn intersting facts about each slide.  For instance, we learned that red blood cells have no nucleus.  That's what gives them their famous shape.  In quiz mode, questions are asked about each slide and you have the option to press the A, B, or C button to choose your answer.

A couple of example questions in Quiz Mode are:

What is something diatoms have in common with plants?
a) They photosynthesize
B) They are unicellular
C) They have leaves and stems

What are weevils known for?
A) damaging crops
B) burrowing into human or animal skin
c) eating pests

The slides are already in the microscope so there's no need to insert and remove them.  That makes it handy so you don't have to keep track of them, but you also have to advance through if you want to see a specific slide.  The "talker" that speaks out the facts and questions from the microscope is clear and easy to understand, although monotonous.  The microscope requires 3 C batteries, which are not included.  The GeoSafari Talking Electron Microscope has been used and played with almost daily in my home.  The kids love it and I'll admit I do too.  We've learned new things, been refreshed on others, and have been able to see fantastic up close images.

Win It!

One person will win a GeoSafari Talking Electron Microscope.

Dr. Scholl's Custom Fit Orthotic Inserts - Review and #Giveaway

A couple of months ago I went into the local Wal-Mart store and saw a display for Dr. Scholl's Custom Fit Orthotics.  It's a noticeable display because it's large and interactive.  I did not pay a whole lot of attention to it but it definitely got my husband's attention.  He vowed to come back to the display another day and see what orthotics would fit his shoes because he's on his feet all day.  Fast forwarding to earlier this month, I was thrilled to find out I was selected to take part in a Dr. Scholl's Custom Fit Orthotics campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting.

I headed back to Wal-Mart at 2 A.M. one day to get a foot analysis at the Dr. Scholl's kiosk.  Thankfully the kiosk had been moved from the front of the medicine aisle to the back.  I think most people might be embarassed to get a foot analysis in front of a bunch of total strangers.  I removed my shoes and proceeded to get my foot analysis.  It is recommended that you remove your socks as well, but I couldn't bring myself to do it, not knowing how many other people's feet have touched the pad.  During the analysis, more than 2000 pressure sensors analyzed my feet and recommended exactly which pair of Custom Fit Orthotic Inserts were right for me.  High pressure spots are shown in red and low pressure spots are shown in blue.  The analysis took just a few short minutes and included standing still and balancing weight on one foot at a time.  There are several Custom Fit Orthotic Inserts on each side of the kiosk.  It is important to do the foot analysis to get the inserts that are right for you.  After taking the foot analysis, it was recommended that I get the CF410 Custom Fit Orthotic Inserts.

Each component of Dr. Scholl's Custom Fit Orthotic Inserts works to provide your feet with a different benefit.  The top layer provides added comfort and long-lasting durability.  Another layer is constructed to provide custom cushioning for your foot pressure, while the bottom layer provides the right support for your arch type.  The custom orthotic inserts work by putting your foot into a more supported position and dispersing pressure levels evently across both feet.  They provide you with all day relief of tired, achy feet and eliminate foot discomfort.

I have never tried orthotic inserts before so I can't compare these to others.  What I can say is that the Custom Fit Orthotic Inserts I received seem to mold to my feet just right and give immediate relief.  My feet do not hurt near as often as they used to and they are comfortable to walk around in.  The inserts do not fit your entire foot, but rather go in the back of the shoe.   The top of the insert where you place your foot is cushiony, not hard.  Each insert comes in a case to place them in when not in use.  They are a welcome relief for my feet.  Now that I know how well I like them, my husband will soon be getting his foot analysis and purchasing his own custom fit orthotic inserts.

Receive a $7.50 rebate on Dr. Scholl's Custom Fit Orthotic Inserts with this link:  http://www.footmapping.com/footmapping/rebate-momscentral.jspa
Win It!

One person will win a pair of Dr. Scholl's Custom Fit Orthotic Inserts.

Kerusso - Tshirt Review

I don't consider myself overly religious but I am strong in my faith.  I may not throw a Bible or spew scripture at you, but I will never deny my Christian belief.  Kerusso, a premier producer of Christian-themed apparel, proclaims the Good News to the world through products about Jesus.  The company name, Kerusso, comes from a Greek word that means "to preach".

I received the You Are Loved tshirt from Kerusso.  On the occasions that I've worn it, I've received compliments on the design and the message.  The shirt is pink with a white swirl cross in the background.  The message reads "You are loved more than you will ever know by someone who died to know you. Romans 5:6".  It's a very strong message that holds deep meaning for me.  I think the shirt is designed in a way that grabs the reader's attention and hopefully makes them stop to think about what it says.  The tshirt itself fits me very well and has not faded since washing it.

The apparel and accessories that Kerusso carries is a positive way to show your love for Jesus and show others where you stand.

I received product for review from Kerusso.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products.  Your opinions and results may differ.

MI-DEL Cookies - Review and #Giveaway

I don't care how healthy something may be fore me, flavor comes first.  I have nothing against healthy, organic, or natural foods but sometimes the things that are good for you don't always taste good. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well I liked MI-DEL Cookies.  I've never heard of them before but was willing to try the all natural, gluten free cookies.  So glad I did!

MI-DEl cookies are all natural, with no artificial flavors or coloring.  They are also gluten free, with a short ingredient list made of ingredients you can pronounce.  You can find MI-DEL cookies at leading grocers that specialize in natural and organic foods, and in thousands of other stores.

I went to my local HyVee store and got three packages of MI-DEL Cookies in the organic section, the Chocolate Chip Cookies and the Ginger Snaps.  Through no fault of the cookie company itself, I did find expired Cinnamon Snaps on the shelf.  I'm not sure why, but the store still had them for sale and I happened to come across ones that should have been taken off the shelf a long time ago.

Me and my family preferred the Chocolate Chip Cookies over the Ginger Snaps, but found them both to be tasteful.  Both had a crunchy bite and there were quite a few cookies in each bag.  There were plenty of chocolate chips in each chocolate chip cookie.  Each bag was devoured quickly and made a delicious, wholesome treat for us to eat while snacking at camp.  I'll definitely be purchasing more for future snack time treats.

Win It!

Three people will each win a coupon for a free full-size product of choice from MI-DEL Cookies.

Educational Insights - Estimation Station Review and #Giveaway

Educational Insights, a manufacturer of educational toys and games, has provided many hours of play to my children. Educational Insights products include subject-specific classroom products, teacher resources, educational toys, and games. Their products are designed by seasoned educators and parents who know that, first and foremost, learning must be fun.  Right now they are sponsoring a California Dreamin' Sweepstakes on their Facebook page for the chance to win a trip to Los Angeles to view a live taping of Jeopardy.  The lastest review and giveaway I'm doing for this upstanding company is for the Estimation Station.

The Estimation Station is a great way to teach children to make logical, mathematical estimates.  By filling the jar up with desired items and using the included proportional scoop, students can formulate educated estimations about the number of pieces in the jar.  Included with the Estimation Station is a 4" plastic cube jar with locking lid and a 2" plastic cube scoop.  An included activity guide has a week's worth of activities including estimation, counting, place value, comparing and ordering numbers, making predictions, graphing, statistics, and mathematical reasoning.

I've used the Estimation Station to teach my younger children estimation by filling it up different times with pieces of candy, pennies, and beads.  I've used the activity guide and worked with my kids day by day with different areas of math.  Markings on the side of the jar show the fractional amounts as you fill it.  By knowing that the scoop is half the length of the jar and the jar can hold eight times as much as the scoop, the kids have been able to get a fairly precise count of how many of each item is in the jar.

The scoop and the jar are easy to wipe down when it's empty and it's been a nice teaching tool to have.  I think the activity guide is geared more towards teachers and students, but it's also helpful to have at home to teach kids.  To make it more of a challenge, I recommend placing smaller items in the jar such as pennies, beads, or candy rather than larger things like marshmallows.  Another way the Estimation Station can be used is by filling it up during children's events and parties and having each guest take turns with their guesses.  The winner with the closest answer could receive a prize.

Win It!

Waiting For Forever - DVD Review

DVD Synopsis:

Released on DVD May 3rd, Rachel Bilson (Jumper, The O.C) and Tom Sturridge (Pirate Radio) lead an all-star cast in this unforgettable love story.  Sturridge creates a mesmerizing and unforgettable character in Will, the quirky street performer with a free spirit and a heart of pure gold.  The object of Will's lifelong affection is Emma (Bilson), the beautiful young actress whom he has never stopped loving since they were childhood sweethearts.  But when they reunite, and Will gets swept up in Emma's complicated past, his innocence and all-consuming passion could cost him everything he's ever wanted.  Waiting For Forever also stars Richard Jenkins, Blythe Danner, Nikki Blonsky, and Jamie King.

My Review:

I've never seen the acting talents of Tom Sturridge before, but I must say he impressed me with his acting in Waiting For Forever.  His street performances alone, from juggling to magic tricks, were convincing and amazing to watch.  Add that with his pureness and innocence and you've got a genuinely likable character.  I don't usually get much from love stories or romances because they all seem the same but this one had a few scenes different from the norm, in the way that the story plays out.  Although Waiting For Forever seems to be a movie geared towards teenage girls, it is a movie that females of all ages can revel in.

Bodycology - Review and #Giveaway

Bodycology seeks to empower women to look and feel their best by enhancing their lives through both knowledge and high quiality products that are attainable by all.  I've personally purchased and used bodycology body mists before and like the pleasing fragrances.  Other products in the bodycology line include lotions, shower gels, hand sanitizers, and parfums.  Some of the fragrances include vanilla cupcake, clean lemon, cucumber melon, and others.  Bodycology products can be purchased individually or in gift sets.

For Mother's Day, bodycology released the new Warm & Cozy Sock Set which includes a 2 oz body cream, a 2 oz body mist, and a pair of cozy socks.  Available in a variety of uplifting fragrances, I received the Warm & Cozy Sock Set in Brown Sugar Vanilla.  It came in a clear package adorned with a bow.  The Brown Sugar Vanilla fragrance was very pleasant and lasted for quite a while before it needed reapplying.  The lotion had a nice texture that wasn't greasy or runny.  The pink socks were so soft and made my feet feel cozy.  Retailing for $5, I think the price is very affordable.

Win It!

One person will win a Bodymist 6 Piece Set that includes six fragrances in 2oz mists.

Bath & Body Works My PocketBac Design Contest

We are Bath & Body Works fanatics.  As you can tell from the picture below, my teenage daughter spends a good portion of her paycheck there.  Her favorite are the PocketBac hand sanitizers.  In addition to the ones she keeps on her dresser, she has some in her car and some attached to her bookbag.

Bath & Body Works is giving fans the opportunity to put their own spin on the brand’s iconic PocketBac Hand Gel Sanitizers with the myPocketBac Design Contest. Bath & Body Works is inviting consumers to log on to www.myPocketbac.com to customize their Bath & Body Works PocketBac labels through June 9th.

The winning designs will be chosen by fan popularity, allowing Bath & Body Works customers to select the design that will end up on shelves. New winners will be selected this month AND next month, doubling their chances to win.

Bath & Body Works has inspired a clean hands craze with its custom collections of pocked sized anti-bacterials that started with Back-2-School PocketBacks that launched last year.  The design contest puts the power of personalization in everyone's hands, giving fans one more way to make PocketBacs their own.

The myPocketBack Hand Sanitizer Design Contest is all about you.  You pick the fragrance and design the label.  If your custom creation wins you'll get a $500 shopping spree at Bath & Body Works and you'll see your design in stores for a limited time.  If this is something that interests you, be sure to head over and create your own design.  It's easy to do.  I just created my own design with the PB & J fragrance.  I've got my fingers crossed that my design is a winning one!
