Canvas4Life - Canvas Print Review and Discount

We've only had our dog, Cisco, for a little over a year but the bond that Adam has with him is strong.  I'm forever finding pictures on my camera that Adam has taken of him and Cisco together, so when I had the opportunity to do a review from Canvas4Life I knew I had to get a canvas print of the boy and his dog.

I own a few canvas prints from different companies and I've been pleased with them all but what I noticed about Canvas 4 Life that's different than the others is the many options available that are free.  The whole process was a breeze to go through and I was able to perfect the print just how I wanted.  I chose a 24"x36" single panel matte print.  As soon as I uploaded the desired photo, I was able to use the real time image quality checker to view the quality of my image before ordering it.  Although I chose not to, I could have added a border to my photo.  I was able to decide how thick or thin I wanted the depth of the canvas to be.  I went with the thinner option so the print would align flat on the wall.  I was also able to choose whether I wanted my photo in original color, sepia, or black and white.

When I received my canvas print, I was not 100% satisfied. I was 200% satisfied!!  Starting with the backing, I noticed that it was held together quite well. With the way it is put together, I believe that it will stay in tact for quite a long time.  Stretcher bars and corner wedges on the back keep it taut and firmly in place.

The canvas print of my son and dog is now greatly displayed in Adam's bedroom.  The canvas print is so large and so prominently displayed that it's impossible not to notice it. I love how it sets a focal point in the room. It hangs flat against the wall without jutting or tilting out.  The print turned out exactly how I submitted the photo and I couldn't be more pleased.  Adam is over the moon that he has a large canvas print of him and his best friend hung in his bedroom.

A company that knows what people want when ordering canvas prints, Canvas 4 Life has grown to become the leading photo canvas provider globally with state of the art production centers.  Each and every canvas print is professionally made up using the latest equipment and stretches to the correct tension equally over all dimensions.

Receive a 10% discount on your Canvas 4 Life order when you click on this referral link:  Code is automatically applied at checkout.

Snow White and the Huntsman - Prize Pack Giveaway

Venture into a land of action fantasy, heroic battle scenes and visual wonder in Snow White and the Huntsman Extended Edition, coming to Blu-ray™ Combo Pack, DVD, On Demand and Digital Download on September 11, 2012, from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Packed with pulse-pounding battles, unmatched visual imagination and compelling characters, Snow White and the Huntsman is a wholly original adventure story told on an epic scale. From the splendor of the wicked Queen’s enchanted palace to the menace of the Dark Forest, a breathtaking combination of harrowing beauty, epic battle scenes, visual wonder and jaw-dropping special effects make this film singularly suited for the incomparable high-definition picture and perfect hi-def 5.1 surround sound of Blu-ray™.

Straight Shooters: Featuring Sam Claflin in Snow White and the Huntsman
Thanks to characters like William (Sam Claflin) in Snow White and the Huntsman (premiering on Blu-ray Sept. 11), Hawkeye in The Avengers and Katniss The Hunger Games, archery has been increasing in popularity. Take a look at these recent cinematic archers that join William in his love of the bow and arrow.

Hawkeye, The Avengers

Clint Barton, AKA “Hawkeye,” has no superhuman powers like his Avengers teammate, Captain America or superior technology like Ironman, but he is unbeatable in combat and a master archer to boot. And his arrows aren’t just ordinary arrows. Among them are tricksters with flares, explosives, electrical discharge, suction cups, smoke bombs, boomerangs and more.

Legolas, Lord of the Rings

Legolas, an elf of the Woodland Realm and one of nine members of the Fellowship of the Ring, might be the quickest and fastest archer the big screen has ever seen. Of course, while his keen eyes, ears and fighting skills are of immense use to the Fellowship, his friendship and loyalty make him even more important.

Katniss Everdeen, The Hunger Games

Katniss hails from District 12, a coal-mining district that is the poorest district in the dystopian fictional nation of Panem. Outside the district’s borders, Katniss and her best friend, Gale, hone their hunting skills to keep their families fed. Her top-notch skill and determination are ultimately what gets her through the Hunger Games as a victor.

Robin Hood

Who is more famous for perfect archery skills than Robin Hood? Historically, his motto of robbing the rich to give to the poor is as synonymous to him as his precise aim with a bow and arrow. His story has been told in over a dozen television and film incarnations starring the likes of Douglas Fairbanks, Errol Flynn, Cary Elwes, Russell Crowe and more.

Neytiri, Avatar

As the daughter of Eytukan, the leader of the Omaticaya, it is not surprising that Neytiri knows how to use a bow and arrow.  She begrudgingly takes on educating Jake Sully after her mother, a spiritual leader, deems him worthy. And even though she at first thinks him a fool, she eventually falls for him and together, they save Pandora from a human threat.

William, Snow White and the Huntsman

William, son of Duke Hammond, is traumatized as a child when he is unable to rescue Snow White from the evil queen and her maniacal brother. But as an adult – now an expert bowman – he is able to infiltrate a group of henchmen trying to find Snow White, who’s escaped, so he can successfully rescue her and help her reclaim the throne that is rightfully hers.

Win It!

One person will win a Snow White and the Huntsman Prize Pack that includes:

Big Sky Mountain - Book Review and Giveaway

Book Synopsis:

The "First Lady of the West," #1 New York Times bestselling author Linda Lael Miller, brings you to Parable, Montana-where love awaits.

With his rugged good looks, vast wealth and family name, hell-raiser Hutch Carmody is still the golden boy of Parable, Montana. But he's done some growing up-making peace with his illegitimate half brother and inheriting half of Whisper Creek Ranch, which should have been all his. These days, Hutch knows there are some things money can't buy: like the heart of loving, ladylike divorcé Kendra Shepherd.

Kendra's quiet mansion reminds her of what she wants most-a devoted husband and the pitter-patter of little feet. She can't get Hutch Carmody out of her mind. But a rough-and-tumble cowboy like Hutch, coming home for family dinner? Seems crazy! Then again, crazier dreams have become reality under the vast Montana sky.

My Review:

After reading Big Sky Country by Linda Lael Miller I was elated to read the next book, Big Sky Mountain.  Although you can read one without the other, Big Sky Mountain involves the same characters as the first book and further tells the story of the romance, heartache, and struggles in their lives.  Kendra and Hutch, the main characters with a past, go through strife before finally realizing they were meant for each other.

You can follow along on the blog tour to read more reviews and author Q&As, as well as find more giveaways for the book..

One person will win a paperback copy of Big Sky Mountain.

Snack Pack Bakery Shop Puddings - Review

Snack Pack is bringing bakery-inspired flavors to the pantry shelf with new Snack Pack Bakery Shop pudding.  The new line offers kids and parents a convenient, tasty treat equally suited for the lunch box and the break room.  Snack Pack Bakery Shop pudding comes in five flavors:  banana cream pie, chocolate cupcake, frosted sugar cookie, lemon meringue pie and aple pie a la mode.  All Bakery Shop flavors except lemon meringue pie have as much calcium as an 8oz glass of milk.  Snack Pack Bakery Shop puddings also contain no preservatives or high fructose corn syrup.
I received the banana cream pie Snack Pack Bakery Shop pudding for review.  It lasted less than a day at my house, with all of us trying it out.  The pudding tastes pretty close to an actual banana cream pie and is quite yummy.  I usually purchase Snack Pack puddings for school lunches and to take to work.  I'm excited to learn of the new line of puddings and especially can't wait to purchase and try the Frosted Sugar Cookie flavored pudding.  I've never heard of that flavor for a pudding before and think it'd be just as palatable as the banana cream pie pudding we tried.

I received products for review.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products.  Your opinions and results may differ.

Combat Ant Bait and Gel - Review and Giveaway

Although they're not as bad now as they were in the beginning of the summer, I have a problem with ants invading my home.  Even worse, they try to take over in my camper too.  I've tried different methods of eradicating ants.  Some of those methods have worked while others haven't.  I've come pretty close to winning the war by using Combat Source Kill Max Ant Bait and Ant Gel.

The Combat Source Kill Max Ant Gel is formulated to effectively get rid of ants.  It contains Fipronil, a fast-acting active ingredient.  Its speed is still slow enough, however, for foraging ants to return to the colony and feed the bait to larvae and queens so that the entire colony is killed through the Domino Effect.  It works within hours and up to one month.

The gel is in a tube that resembles a syringe and is to be placed near ant trails, ant nexts, or in areas of suspected critter activity.  I don't like having gels or any potential poison left out in the open so I've used it in cracks and crevices in areas where ants tend to roam.

The Combat Source Kill Max Ant Bait contains an effective insecticide which kills most ants commonly found in homes.  It's effective because ants carry bait back to their colony to destroy the entire colony.  It even kills ants adjacent to your home to prevent more ants from coming inside.  Ants enter the bait station and eat the bait then take it back to the nest to destroy their fellow bugs.  I have bait stations placed in my pantry, behind my stove and by my kitchen sink.

Both the gel and the bait seem to be effective in removing picnic pests from my home and camper.  I definitely don't see trails of them along my walls and counter space anymore.  I prefer the bait over the gel because the formula is inside a contained station rather than out in the open.
Win It!

One person will win a box of Combat Source Kill Max Ant Gel.

Goodbye Neglect, Hello Respect - #HelloBetter

At the end of June the towers of the cell phone company I was with were bought by U.S. Cellular.  I was a little miffed at first because it meant my entire family would have to switch from the company we had to another one.  I shopped around with a handful of cell phone companies and finally settled on U.S. Cellular.  One driving point that sold me to them was customer service.  The sales reps seemed knowledgable about what plans and phones I needed.  They also answered my questions with sincerity.  I wasn't given the cold shoulder or made to feel like I was wasting their time.  I've had to visit the local U.S. Cellular office a couple times since signing up and have been given the same level of customer care as the first time I signed up.

A study conducted by U.S. Cellular indicates that 43 percent of individuals are in the 'seven year itch' phase with their wireless provider, noting they are comfortable but suspect they are missing out on something better.

• Out of the 1,208 participants polled across four regions of the country, 56 percent of the respondents admitted to being unhappy with their carrier over the past year but only 35 percent of all respondents have ever broken up with their provider.

• In spite of this overall dissatisfaction, respondents are hesitant to call it quits. More than one-third of respondents say they stick with their current provider because they believe all carriers are the same, it is too much trouble to switch carriers, or they don’t want to sign a new contract.   By introducing the Hello Better campaign to the public, U.S. Cellular is encouraging people to say goodbye to dysfunctional wireless relationships and say hello to a better experience. Goodbye neglect, hello respect.
In addition to passionate associates, U.S. Cellular provides customers with unique benefits such as the industry’s only points-based rewards program, no contract after the first contract ends, free incoming calls and texts, free Overage Protection and free Battery Swap for your device.  U.S. Cellular believes that people deserve better. A mobile phone is supposed to make life simpler and easier to get things done. Your relationship with your wireless carrier should be the same. US Cellular treats their customers like neighbors, not numbers.

Since joining U.S. Cellular at the end of June, I've been a satisfied customer and don't have the worrying concerns that I first had when shopping around for phone carriers.

She's A Calendar Girl

I briefly mentioned earlier this week that my oldest, Shelby, was selected to be in a calendar that will sell in a couple months during a hot rod event.  All proceeds of the calendar will go directly to Honor Flight.  Several photos were taken and here are two of the proofs.

The photographer is going to be sending her the rest of the proofs later this week.  I think these two turned out well but chances are she'll be having another photo shoot because the photographer wasn't happy with the lighting.

People say she and I look alike, but I disagree.  She's way cuter.

Chocolate Inspirations, Inc. - Review

I have a sweet tooth and appreciate confections that delight my taste buds.  Chocolate Inspirations sent me a few of their best sellers and some sweets from their Vegan & Gluten Free lines.  Let me tell you, they were scrumptious.

Pam Vieau, owner and resident chocolatier of Chocolate Inspirations, Inc. is a culinary artist with fifteen years experience.  She has a long list of credentials and expertise in the chocolate field and it definitely shows when you taste the sweet treats from Chocolate Inspirations, Inc.

The kids' favorite from all the samples was the Gourmet Caramel Corn.  It was packaged in an airtight bag and didn't last long at all once it was opened.  The caramel glaze on the popcorn was flavory and the popcorn had an airy crunch to it.

The only confection that didn't work for me was the Peanut Butter Pillows.  I enjoyed the taste of them but they were hard and chewy.  It's not that I didn't like them, but rather they didn't work well with my falsies.  The kids, however, ate them up in no time.

I can't say I had a favorite from Chocolate Inspirations because so many of the samples were yummy, but the English Toffee was one of the highest rated for me.  Covered in dark chocolate and chopped pecans, it just screamed for me to eat it in one big bite.  It had the right amount of crunch and the pecan topping was a textural delight.

Wordful Wednesday - Birthday at the Raceway

We usually host birthday parties for the kids.  This year, we decided to let them decide if they wanted to have a birthday party or go on an outing.  Adam turned 13 years old Saturday and chose going to the World Fuel Altered Nationals at Eddyville Raceways.  Me, him, and my husband packed up and went.  In addition to watching the cars race, we held a small party for Adam with the friends who were there with us.
Jason wrote 'Happy B-day Adam' on his race car and drove it down the track that way.

It was an eventful weekend.  Adam's cake didn't fare well during transport so it was a mess.  The car trailer tire blew out on the way up.  Parts kept breaking on Jason's car so he spent more time fixing the car than racing it.  I also learned that my other son, who was at a ball tournament three and a half hours away, had busted his eye open with a baseball and had to be taken to the hospital to get four stitches.

Regardless of the mishaps, we still had a good time.  Adam was in heaven taking pictures of all the cars and watching them speed down the track.  Some of the top cars were going at speeds of 135 mph and making it down the finish line in less than four seconds.

Me, Jason, and Adam walked the pit area and got to visit with a lot of the drivers.  Adam collected several driver/car posters.

It's been a long time since we've tent camped.  Adam had his own and me and Jason slept in one.

From time to time, it is nice to update the furniture in your home. Unfortunately, though, new furniture can be quite expensive. If you are looking for ways to give your old furniture a new look in a way that won't break the bank, here are some cheap and easy ways you can update the furniture in your home.

1. Add A Slipcover

Is the upholstery on your couch or recliner reflecting signs of wear and tear, but you cannot afford to buy new furniture? If so, you may want to try a new slipcover. A slipcover can give your old couch or recliner an instant and affordable updating that can make your living room go from drab to fab in only a few minutes. Plus, when the slipcovers get dirty, all you have to do is wash them and your couch or recliner will always look and feel clean and fresh.

2. New Pillows

Pillows are a great way to update the look of your couch without spending a lot of money. Couch pillows come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors and can give your couch or loveseat an instant updating that won't break the bank.

3. Reuse Old Household Items

If you want to give your living room a modern look for less money, why not turn that old cedar chest into a coffee table? Not only will you be save big bucks on a new coffee table, but you will be giving an old household item a new lease on life! Do you need bookshelves? If so, why not try using old dresser drawers? Simply attach the old dresser drawers to the wall and you have an instant room updater using old furniture.

4. Apply A Fresh Coat Of Paint

Painting an old piece of furniture a new color is a cheap and easy way to give an old piece of furniture a new look. If you are artistic, why not try painting flowers or some other beautiful image onto your old furniture? Not only will painting give your old furniture a new look, but it will also save you tons of money on buying new furniture.

5. Replace Hardware

If you want to give any cabinet or drawer a new look for a low amount of money, try replacing the handles or knobs. For only a small amount of money, you can buy replacement handles or knobs for dressers, cabinets, or drawers. Not only is it easy to replace handles and knobs, but it is also an affordable way to update any room of your house.

If you have grown bored with the old furniture in your home but you cannot afford the expense of new furniture, any of the above listed updates will instantly transform old, boring furniture into something new for a low amount of money. If you just use your imagination and a little bit of creativity, you will see that you can easily change the look of your furniture without spending a lot of money.

For every photo uploaded to the Recipeasy Facebook page, Hormel Foods will donate $1 worth of products to Feeding America, the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity.  When fans share their photo with friends on their personal Facebook page, Hormel Foods will donate $5 more worth of products to the organization.

Hormel Foods collaborates with retailers, nonprofits and the government on hunger relief efforts on their "On Our Way to Ending Hunger" program.  In fiscal year 2011, Hormel Foods donated $110,000 to local hunger-relief organizations in 16 U.S. communities where they have manufacturing facilities.

I encourage you to take the time and upload a photo to the Recipeasy Facebook page and help Hormel come closer to ending hunger.

Random Tuesday Thoughts - Back To School

Random Tuesday Thoughts is hosted by Stacy Uncorked.  If you have some randomness and would like to link up, head on over to her site and get started.

The kids are back in school.  I wouldn't tell it to my kids, but I could go with a couple more months of summer vacation.  I love spending time with my kiddos and school tends to take away from that.  Allyson is a senior and the two boys are in eighth grade.  That makes three graduates and two graduations in May.
Logan can run like nobody's business and does quite well in Track & Field.  Baseball, however, I'm not so sure of.  He's been hit three times by the ball and the last time sent him to the hospital.  Saturday, while I'm in Iowa and he's in Illinois, I get a call from his dad that he's been hit by the baseball and needs to be sent to the hospital.  His eye caught the ball instead of his glove.  His dad took him to the ER where he was given four stitches right above the eye.  Needless to say, his first day of school he's sporting a black eye and four stitches.
Shelby can add calendar girl to her list.  She was selected to be in a calendar that will be sold in September during a hot rod event and all proceeds will go to Honor Flight.  The photo shoot was yesterday and she posed with two GTOs.  Shelby may officially be an adult but this mother already checked it out - the photos are alluring, but not smutty.

This is what you get when you take a cake and travel with it for 2.5 hours, then leave it set in a truck overnight.  Good thing Adam had a sense of humor about it.

Happy RTT!
