Cinderella - DVD Review and Giveaway

DVD Synopsis:

Anchor Bay Entertainment’s Newest DVD Release Brings a Storied Classic to the Wild West

It’s time to trade the glass slippers for a pair of cowboy boots! Audiences throughout the land will be enchanted by the newest Anchor Bay Entertainment DVD release, Cinderella, a modern take on the original fairy tale, set against the backdrop of the Wild West and featuring a fresh cast of furry and feathered friends. Directed by Pascal Hérold and distributed worldwide by Cinemavault International, the brand-new animated feature film was released to DVD December 26th and is now available at retail.

In this imaginative adaptation, Cinderella is a charismatic and tough cowgirl living in Felicity City, a town named after her wicked stepmother. Joined by her two overconfident daughters, Cinderella’s stepmother, Felicity, decides to host a ball in honor of the arrival of the charming Prince Vladimir and his mother, the Duchess. With help from her long-time companion, a shaman named Little Cloud, Cinderella is transformed into a beautiful cowgirl for the celebration. Unaware of her true identity, the Prince is immediately spellbound by the mysterious masked girl. But their budding romance is rudely interrupted by a band of wild pirates, who crash the party and kidnap the Duchess, separating Cinderella and the Prince. When the sawdust settles, Cinderella, Little Cloud and the Prince set out on an unforgettable journey across the West to rescue the Duchess – and live happy ever after.

  My Review:

Loosely based upon the classic fairytale, this Cinderella fable is told in times of the wild west and the roles are played by animated animals.  You stumble upon a lot of the plot that you already know if you're familiar with the classic Cinderella, but there's also new adventures and characters.  Prince Vladimir and his mother arrive into the wild west with the intention of exploring new land but it is quickly found out that they're of high importance and the people treat them as they are, royalty.  Felicity, the mean step-mother, wants her two rough-looking step-daughters to be set up with the prince and does what it takes to keep Cinderella from catching his eye.  There's also train robberies and ill-mannered bandits who want the royalty's worthy belongings.  In the end, it all works out and Cinderella gets her prince.

This is a fun animated tale that puts a spin on a classic romantic story.  The make-up of characters and adventurous plot will keep kids entertained.  There is mild violence that includes cartoonish brawls and gunfights.  The one thing I really disliked was the unnecessary words of "idiot" and "stupid".  Other than that, me and the young ones who watched the DVD enjoyed the spirited scenes and unique adaptation.

Win It!
