A Step Closer to Graduation: Allyson's Baccalaureate

Allyson will be graduating from high school this year.  She'll be our second one officially out of school.  Baccalaureate was held last night.  For those not in the know, baccalaureate is a religious service held for graduates before commencement.  I've never attended one before, even my own, so it was a new experience for me.

Making it an even more different experience for me was that it was held at a Catholic church.  You see, not only do I have a blended family of six kids; two of those kids have been raised Catholic and attend a private school that teaches Catholicism.  While me and my hubby attend church with our other kids, Allyson and Juliann attend mass with their mother.

I don't knock anyone who has a relationship with God, regardless of how they practice it.  But I always feel like a fish out of water when I attend religious events for Allyson and Juliann because there are certain times when you need to get up, sit down, go to town, do the boot scootin' boogie.  If it wasn't for Juliann, I would've done it all wrong.

Jason proudly sported his QU Dad tshirt for the university Allyson will be attending next fall.

Allyson is graduating with her best friend, Allison.  Both same names, different spellings.

Juliann will be graduating from 8th grade next year so we'll get to do it all over again.

Allyson's graduation is Sunday and my two boys will be graduating from 8th grade next Thursday, so it's a flurry of commencement exercises and parties.  I'm proud of all my kids and how well they're doing.

Do you have anyone graduating in your family this year?
