Wordful Wednesday - 8th Grade Graduation

Logan and Adam graduated from 8th grade last Thursday.  Commencement was held to celebrate the transition from junior high to high school.  I cannot wrap my head around the fact that next school year both boys will be Freshmen.  In my mind's eye, they're still my little guys.
Logan and Adam were none too keen that they had to dress up for the occasion.  Somewhere, for some reason, the school had extra ties on hand which was a good thing because both Logan and Adam managed to mangle and tear the ones they had apart trying to get them on.

The graduating class was made up of 39 kids so the graduation wasn't too awful long.  Logan and Adam were the first two to walk in and the last two to walk out.

Technically, Logan should have graduated 8th grade last year but he was held back in kindergarten, making both boys in the same grade.  It worked out for me because all events for both boys were held at the same time.

Interestingly enough, Adam and Logan never had the same teacher or same classes, so they didn't have to interact with each other much at school.  The boys were quite okay with that arrangement.

After the graduation, a celebration of food and gifts was held at a hunting lodge.  The place was fit for a king.  The celebration was held for some of the graduating boys.  The girls had their own after-party elsewhere.

Adam wanted nothing to do with the celebration afterwards and opted instead to go home.

Logan wanted to hang with his classmates one last time before summer break so he stayed for the party.  Card tables were set up for each boy and decorated.  Both boys made bank.

I'm super proud of Logan and Adam.  They've caused me little grief throughout the school years and both have work hard to accomplish their goals.

Now, to prepare for the graduation party I'll be having in just a couple of weeks.  Have any ideas for favors or decorations?

Oh my, they must be tall like Dad & your daughter takes after you, right? A very handsome family indeed! I have a granddaughter graduating middle school (hmmm they don't call it grammar school anymore huh?) on Friday. As far as decor for the party it's been so long for me I'd probably say something stupid & way out of date. Whatever you do make sure you have the school colors. That's always nice. Thanks for stopping by.

Congrats to your grads! Isn't it amazing how fast time flies by? I keep trying not to blink, but it just doesn't seem to have the desired effect. ;)

Congrats to them.

My sister put my nieces pictures around a big tree in their yard with thick string and clothes pins. It was pretty cool.

Then she had farmers bins filled with popcorn and mixed nuts. My other sister made cupcakes, my mom made a big salad, they made fruit kabobs and bought premade pizza at Costco. That was for a high school graduation party. You probably don't need to go over board, but it depends on how many people you are having come to the party.
