Enjoy Better Moments with U.S. Cellular Family Protector

I received compensation for this post. The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way. Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services. Your opinions and results may differ.

I'm on a U.S. Cellular family plan with my oldest daughter, mother, brother, and sister-in-law.  My two step-daughters are also on separate plans through U.S. Cellular.  Because I have six kids and a family that I'm close to, it's important that I have tools and resources available to keep in touch.

Whether at home or on-the-go, families, like mine, are using smartphones to make their lives easier, more efficient and meaningful.  I've had conversations with each of my kids about rules and agreements in regards to their cell phones.  Each child may have a different phone with different features, but they all have the same rules in place.  One rule is that phones be with them at all times, unless strictly prohibited by the venue or event they're entering.  I also have a two-call rule.  If I've called them once and didn't get an answer, I'll call a second time and they better have answered by then.  Although they haven't given me much doubt, my kids know I can and will go through their call records and text messages if necessary.  They have their freedom, but I also have my parental control.

Families are already relying on technology in their daily lives, and U.S. Cellular is providing tools like Family Protector to help people use this technology to enjoy Better Moments with family.  From scanning downloaded apps to setting phone limits to locating your lost phone or loved one, you have the ability to manage it all with US Cellular Protector Series.

The U.S.Cellular® Family Protector App provides safety and security by monitoring your children's location and mobile usage. Review your child's calls, block websites, restrict apps, and more. Your child can even send an alert to you with the simple press of a button.  You can first check out the Family Protector App with a free 30-day trial, then purchase it for $9.99/month thereafter.

How do you manage your children’s mobile devices and what rules/agreements do you have in place?

I do think it is wonderful for our children to have cellular phones and very important for rules to be established also. I like the idea of Family Protector.

Great info! I love your two call rule idea. That is wonderful...I get frustrated when my daughter neglects to check her phone...she rarely uses it so I understand. With the family protector plan I would be able to locate her even if she didnt answer...how embarrasing for her! I bet that would teach her to check in more often :D maxandbrandi@yahoo.com

This is good info for someone that is thinking about using this carrier. We only have Trac Phones and just pay for our minutes.

Right now it is manual monitoring but this one seems to be so good that it can take some weight off my shoulders!

Good to have rules and limits while still giving kids some freedom. I like that you were upfront about going through their call list if deemed necessary.

I have a 15 yr old so so this sounds great to have! He is on his phone 24/7. Having something that would limit him or turn his phone off at a certain time would be great to have.

That would have been especially nice to have while we were still raising 5 teens all at once. Just as of this past year we are empty nesters now.
