Heart of the Country - DVD Review

I received DVD for review.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.

DVD Synopsis:

Based on the novel by Rene Gutteridge and John Ward, Heart of the Country is a love story starring country music singer Jana Kramer (“One Tree Hill”), Randy Wayne (“True Blood”), and Gerald McRaney (“Major Dad”). Faith (Kramer) and Luke (Wayne) have it all. Faith is a beautiful singer and Luke is an up-and- coming businessman. When their life together is shattered and she is forced to return home to the family she turned her back on years ago she must find the strength to love again. Watch Jana Kramer in her first leading movie role in the year's most inspirational and romantic movie event.  It debuted on DVD from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment on August 20.

My Review:

Heart of the Country focuses on a singer named Faith who returns to her home state of North Carolina after a four-year hiatus. She struggles with a husband who commits fraud, a father and sister who have tension with her, and a doctor who she has chemistry with.

A lot of the back story is created through flashbacks, but the acting performances of the cast draws you in and absorbs you. I felt emotionally connected to the characters. Much of the background music for the film was performed by Jana Kramer, a well-known country music singer who plays the main character. I've never heard Jana's music before watching the film but it fit well with the movie and her lead role as Faith in the movie was superlative.
