Wordful Wednesday - St. Louis Zoo Trip

Saturday I went on a trip with two of my teens, and a co-worker and her son to the St. Louis Zoo. We spent several hours there and still didn't see all the exhibits but had a great time. Admission to the zoo is free, but parking costs $15. We purchased Zoo Safari passes at $10 which gave us unlimited access into some of the exhibits that cost money.

We paid $4 per person for The Sea Lion Show. In the handful of times I've been to the St. Louis Zoo I've never seen the Sea Lion Show. It was a worthy experience to watch the sea lions perform tricks.

Being able to pet the stingrays and baby sharks was part of the Safari Pass experience. I didn't stick my hand in the water but everyone else got to pet the stingrays and sharks as they circled around the large water area.

You are allowed to bring in coolers or food and drink to the zoo. I definitely recommend doing that because the food is overpriced and doesn't taste all that great. I learned that firsthand.

One of the apes spent the longest time playing peek-a-boo with Becky.

The Mary Ann Lee Conversation Carousel is also part of the Safari Pass experience. I sat on one of the carousel rides that didn't go up and down. Not by my own accord, but because I didn't realize it until the ride started. Next time, though...

Yesterday I posted pictures of some of the zoo animals we came across, if you'd like to check that out. I could spend hours photographing the animals and viewing them in their habitats.

The Children's Zoo had a corral of goats in which people could brush their hair or feed them. We witnessed two goats lock horns and fight for hierarchy.

Have you ever been to the zoo? What are your favorite animals to see?

You got some fantastic family pictures!!

We go to the zoo sometimes. Our zoo does NOT look like that one! It's tiny, but we still like to go. :)

You didn't pet the sting ray? They feel really weird! We did that as part of the Brookfield Zoo trip we took a few years back. My girls were so excited to do it, and even though it kind of freaked me out, I wasn't going to be the only one not doing it lol.

So cool seeing teens hanging out with their moms! Gives me hope that in a few years mine will still like me. Or, maybe, like me AGAIN!

LOVE all your pictures! If I can't visit the zoo at least I can live vicariously through you guys. LOL

I've been to the zoo but I haven't been to a REALLY good one yet. Maybe I'll have to plan a visit to this one one day ^.^
