GIANTmicrobes - Review and Giveaway

I received products for review.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.

Ever wonder what a dust mite, a brain cell, the bird flu, or chlamydia look like in microscopic form? Of course there's the old fashion way of looking through the microscope, but there's also the off-the-wall way of viewing them in a whole new light, in the shapes that they are, made into plush and vinyl figurines. GIANTmicrobes catches microbials in a way that is interesting. GIANTmicrobes founder, Drew Oliver, develops microbials into chracters that have personality.
Just in time for Christmas, GIANTmicrobes has three ornament sets - a wreath, a stocking, and a Christmas tree - with mini microbe ornaments. The Christmas Wreath Box, which I received for review, includes Sore Throat, White Blood Cell, Stomach Ache, Nerve Cell, and a shimmering gold Amoeba. They are festively adorned with top hats, angel wings, and other Christmas accessories.

The plush microbial ornaments are shaped to resemble what they look like under a microscope. Each has a gold string to hang the ornament from. The box they come in can be reused to store the ornaments in until next time they are hung. Juliann has a small desktop Christmas tree she's going to set out this year and hang the plush microbe ornaments from it. They may not be the most traditional of Christmas ornaments, but they certainly are the most interesting!

One person will win a microbe of choice from GIANTmicrobes.

Happy Halloween!

Emma dressed up as a zombie last year

Usually Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year. I enjoy seeing decorated yards, going through haunted houses, and seeing kids in costume. I haven't done much of anything related to Halloween this year though. Seems I've been way too busy doing other things. My kids are too old to go trick-or-treating and they have no desire to dress up, so I think our night will be rather mundane.

Hope you have a Happy Halloween and enjoy the night! Keep safe and have fun!

Shin Splints and Running Pains

Logan has been actively involved in Track & Field for three years. This year he joined the high school's Cross Country team. Running is his passion and he's done really well at meets. But, the poor guy has run himself out.

A couple weeks ago Logan started limping but contested nothing was wrong. I played along for a few days but noticed his limping getting worse. His coach took notice too.

Logan finally fessed up and admitted he was in pain. It's been determined he has shin splints, otherwise known as tiny breaks in the lower leg bones. They're quite painful but the only real remedies are ice packs and lots of rest. Upon the coach's insistence, as well as my own, Logan's Cross Country career is over for this year.

He's bummin' because it's the end of the season and regionals and sectionals are taking place. In other words, it's the whole reason for running. I feel for him, I really do, but his health takes precedence. There's always next year.

Retro Baby: Cut Back on All the Gear and Boost Your Baby’s Development With More Than 100 Time-Tested Activities - Book Review

I received book for review.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.

New AAP Book, Retro Baby, Encourages Parents to Return to the Baby Basics – Emphasizes the Importance of One-on-One Play with Children in Their Early Stages of Life and Recommends Over 100 Time-Tested Activities.

While bouncers, walkers, carriers, electronic toys, and “educational” videos are intended to make parents’ lives easier and children smarter, according to a new book published by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), parents should consider reducing their baby’s time spent with gadgets and bond the old fashioned way by going back to basics.

Leading pediatric occupational therapist and child development specialist Anne Zachry, PhD, OTR/L is the author of Retro Baby: Cut Back on All the Gear and Boost Your Baby’s Development With More Than 100 Time-Tested Activities (American Academy of Pediatrics, October 2013), a new book intended to help parents and caregivers understand the importance of one-on-one play with children during the early stages of life. With over 20 years experience, Zachry understands that each family and baby have different needs and in her book, she offers many flexible strategies and suggestions for playtime that provide lots of opportunities to spend valuable time with baby, creating that special bond that will last a lifetime.

Incorporating the latest recommendations from the AAP with extensive research by Zachry and other experts in her field, Retro Baby covers how an infant’s brain, body, motor and sensory skills develop, explain the negative impacts of overusing certain baby gear, and provide specific instructions for play positions and activities that are appropriate for each developmental stage, giving parents both a starting point and guidelines to help them properly invest in their child’s development and future.

Packed with more than 100 wonderful activities based on modern day research, Retro Baby is a comprehensive guide that will help parents and caregivers:

•Learn how crucial connections are formed between a child’s brain and muscles during the first year of life.

•Discover how the over use of some products can hinder infant exploration.

•Observe how good old-fashioned play affects your baby’s development in a positive way.

•Try a variety of ideas that enhance baby’s ability to learn.

•See how to make traditional, handmade toys using common household items.

Retro Baby also includes chapters on keeping your sleeping baby safe, practicing tummy time and preventing positional skull deformities.

Anne H. Zachry, PhD, OTR/L is a pediatric occupational therapist and child development specialist with more than 20 years experience. Her research on this subject has been published in national peer-reviewed journals and her profession’s trade magazines as well as a number of parenting magazines. She cites and extensively supports AAP policy and is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and has lectured at the University of Memphis and is a Professor of Occupational Therapy at the University of Tennessee Health and Science Center. My Review:

I don't have a baby and haven't had one for several years. I don't claim to be on the up-and-up when it comes to baby development and safety. I do, however, think that we live in a fast-paced world that wouldn't hurt to slow down once in a while. Just because the newest gadget or product has hit the market, doesn't mean we always need it.

Retro Baby is an informative book that shows why parents don't always need the lastest in baby gear and why. It teaches parents to use "old-fashioned" methods to boost baby's development. The book is broke down into months of baby's devlopment at each stage. There are several suggested activities for each stage that are inexpensive and fun. Some of them are activities most parents already do with their baby, but there are also several fresh ideas. Also explained in the book is what baby gear the author suggests and which gear is harmful or not needed. New parents and caregivers would greatly benefit from this book.

My Review:

I was a faithful viewer of Highway To Heaven when it originally aired. I always felt more inspired and hearty after each episode. Michael Landon was an iconic actor and Victor French made the pair complete. Being able to own season two on DVD brought back fond memories.

Characters Jonathan and Mark (played by Landon and French) are divine beings disguised as everyday folk. They come across people in heartache and difficult situations. The pair help people get through their struggles and show what true character is. Watching these episodes again many years later reminded me why I loved the show so much then. Regardless of your faith or creed, Highway to Heaven is wholesome family entertainment.

Get the Look: Hailee Steinfeld - Bioré Giveaway

I received no product or compensation for this post.  This post is in partnership with PR firm.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.

Hailee Steinfeld walked the red carpet at the premiere of her latest film Ender’s Game. Hailee looked as glamorous as ever with help from Celebrity Makeup Artist Steven Sollitto. The Oscar nominee sported a fantastic, white sequined Yves Saint Laurent top with playful red lips, paired with tailored black pants for a polished, stunning look.

Steven Sollitto spills his secrets to achieve Hailee’s flawless look as she walked the red carpet. “Nothing can be taken for granted on such a big night,” Steven explains. “So, to make sure Hailee's skin looked its best we started by using Bioré Pore Unclogging Scrub to exfoliate and refine the skin. I can't express how important a clean healthy canvas is for makeup. The Bioré Pore Unclogging Scrub feels fresh, lathers beautifully, and smells clean. A little attention to your skin before a big night goes a long way.”

Here are Steven’s tips for creating the look:

· To make sure Hailee's skin looked its best, we started by using Bioré Pore Unclogging Scrub to exfoliate and refine the skin. I can't express how important a clean healthy canvas is for makeup. The Bioré Pore Unclogging Scrub feels fresh, lathers beautifully and smells clean. A little attention to your skin before a big night goes a long way.

· For moisturizer I used a Light Cream before applying a MAC Face and Body foundation, which I find works well on most women. Plus, this foundation allows me to go light or heavy depending on the area of the face.

· Originally we were going to do a wet glossy red lip to match the top. We all loved it but then thought about the longevity of the look. I didn't want her worried about her lips as she was doing interview after interview, so we used the Jouer Riviera Gloss to help mimic the sequins of her top.

· To highlight the eyes, I used purples hues to bring out the gold in her eyes. To start her eye, I brushed shadow a bronze all across her lids and underneath her bottom lashes from Votre Vu called Copper Suede. Then, in order to give her some definition at her lashes, I used NARS Gel Liner in Tatar (this is a purple that reads black to most people, but it is softer) as well as MAC's Strong Willed Pencil, which I smudged back and forth for a softer look. Next, I took a small but wide eye shadow brush and swept MAC Red Violet under her lashes and out at the corners of her eyes. I lined her inner bottom lids with Laura Mercier's Violet Pencil. Two Coats of Benefit Bad Gal Lash in Black and her eyes were ready for those flashes on the red carpet.

· On Hailee's cheeks, I can't help but use Laura Mercier's Praline Creme Cheek Blush - I just love the color. A very up-to-date choice in all its peachy apricot.

With her hair pulled tight up in a sleek high pony, Hailee looked the young star she is.

Bioré Pore Unclogging Scrub- A soap-free, creamy pearlized formula designed to lift away pore-clogging dirt and oil. The cleanser contains exfoliating microbeads to unclog pores and salicylic acid to prevent blackheads and breakouts from forming, keeping your summer complexion fresh and clear. $5.99; Select food, drug and mass merchant stores.
Win It!

Two people will each win Bioré Pore Unclogging Scrub.

Wordful Wednesday - My New Toy On Wheels

A little over two weeks ago I posted about showing up at a friend's country house for a bonfire. I went with intentions of hanging with friends, eating good food, and listening to music. I left with a muddy vehicle.

Once darkness fell upon us, several people took their mud trucks through a mud pit. Mind you, those vehicles were built just for offorading and mudding. Not one to be outdone, I threw my Trailblazer in 4-wheel drive and made a pass. And another pass, and another. It was an adrenaline rush!

The only downside: my vehicle is meant for everyday driving on regular streets. It's not made for going through five feet of mud and water. It's a wonder I didn't destroy it!

To top off the evening, my vehicle was covered top to bottom, inside and out, with mud. It was a glorious sight! When I got home, my husband didn't know whether to be proud of me or raise the roof with fury.
After hearing all the details several times from everybody and their dog, Jason decided the best bet would be to just purchase an actual vehicle that's meant for mud slingin'. So last night he and I picked up my new bad boy on wheels. It may not be the prettiest thing, but that's low on my list. As long as I can romp it through mud and dirt, I'll be giddy.

Liquid Chalkers - Review and Giveaway

I received products for review.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.
I'm pretty free with my kids using creativity.  Paints, markers, clay, and glitter are allowed at my house.  It's the mess afterwards that I'm not real fond of. I either have to scrub till I'm sore or pick up pieces off the floor.

Adam and Emma were super stoked when they received Liquid Chalkers as a new tool for creativity. I became stoked when I learned they don't create a big mess.

Liquid Chalkers are wet erase marker pens with liquid chalk as the ink. They are designed to allow for inspiration and talent with no messes or smears. One package we received was a 4-pack of white Liquid Chalkers and the other package contained eight bold colors.

We quickly learned the right way and the wrong way to use Liquid Chalkers. Don't be hasty and think you can start automatically writing with the liquid chalk markers. Adam thought they were broke at first because they didn't write immediately. (If he would've just read the packaging first!) The markers work by first depressing the tips gently and holding down until the ink starts to flow into the tip and coats the tip. It takes just a few short seconds for each maker. The tips of the Liquid Chalkers are fine point, but you can turn them to the side for a bigger stroke. The markers are non-toxic.

Liquid Chalkers work with most surfaces, but it's important to test surfaces before writing on them. Liquid Chalkers wipe off super easily from most non-porous surfaces but don't wipe off very well from porous ones. Once we tested a few surfaces, Adam and Emma were all over the house creating images with the markers.

Emma pretty much covered every window upstairs while Adam took care of the downstairs windows. Halloween sayings and silly men now adorn every window in my house. The mirrors are also scribbled with silly sayings. It doesn't bother me a bit because we were careful to first test surfaces and I like seeing their artwork all over the place.

To test how well Liquid Chalkers wipe off, I took a Clorox wipe to one window creation. I was pleased as punch when I saw how easy it was to wipe off. It didn't take any scrubbing at all. Just a couple swipes and the image was erased.
Jason has used the white Liquid Chalkers on his race car a couple times during drag races. He much prefers them over the white shoe paint he's been using. The liquid chalk markers don't smear or run upon application.

Emma and Adam have already informed me they are now in charge of "window decorating" around the house during the holidays and they plan on adding new creations with Liquid Chalkers once Thanksgiving is upon us.

Win It!
One person will win an 8-pack of colored Liquid Chalkers and a 4-pack of white Liquid Chalkers (ARV $32).

Got A Treadmill For Only $20!

I belong to a few local Facebook groups that are geared towards buying, selling, and trading. People post their wares on the groups in the hopes others will buy. If I have a few extra dollars, I'll check out recent posts and see what good deals I can get my hands on.

Sunday evening someone in one of the groups posted a treadmill for sale for only $20. When I saw the price, I figured it was either ancient or broke. I've never seen a decent treadmill sell for that cheap. I was one among many who inquired what was wrong with it and why it was selling at a low price. The owner replied that she wanted to clear it out of her garage and the first person who came and got it that night could have it.

I messaged her back, then gave hubby directions to her address. He hightailed it out of our home and straight to hers before someone else could take it out from under us.

I'm always on the lookout for deals or bargains, and consider this treadmill to be one of my best finds. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, and there's computer settings to record calories, speed, and distance.

I'm stoked to burn some calories with this fine piece of fitness equipment. And I promise, I won't use it as a clothes hanger.

Avon's New Makeup Collection - Review

I received products for review.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.

Avon has been with me for years. When I was a tween my mother sold Avon products and was successful in the business. I can recognize the smell of Odyssey perfume a mile away. It's the only fragrance my sister will wear. I can guarantee everyone that my ex's sister buys for this Christmas will receive Avon merchandise, just as in many years past. Many positive thoughts come to mind when I think of Avon - prosperity, quality, variety, and good character are just a few.

Avon has launched a new makeup collection of all new products, color-true shades and luxurious formulas designed with every skin tone in mind. The makeup features True Color Technology and contains self-renewing pigments so the rich color you see in the package is the same vivid color you will see on your lips and eyes.

The collection includes 55 shades of Ultra Color Lipstick, 23 shades of Ultra Glazewear Lip Gloss, 14 True Color Eyeshadow Quads with easy to follow numbered shades, True Color Eyeshadow Duos and Singles, new Ultra Color Lip Crayons, SUPERShock Gel Eyeliner Pencils and more!
I received a few of the new products from Avon's makeup collection. I don't consider myself a makeup artist by any means, but do like to play with different shades and colors. The Kohl Eye Liner is available in five shades, and I received True Black. The eye liner is infused with a shea butter formula and includes a smudger to make blending easy. The deepness of the color is noticeable and the eye liner doesn't smear or wear off after just a short time. The smudger on one end gives me an easy way to rub off any excess or smudges. I do prefer eye liners that don't require sharpening but, other than that, I give this makeup item high praises.

The True Color Eye Shadows are now reformulated with Pure Revealing Technology that stays true to color without fading or creasing. The quads feature numbers for application help. The colors on the palette are the same to what will appear on your eyelid. Although the quads have numbers that show which eye shadows are to be applied first, second and so on, I don't pay mind to that. I use the brush to blend colors to my own liking.

I'll continue to be a consumer of Avon products, and am pleased with how the company has revamped their makeup with new formulas, new shades, and new packaging.

Color Me Crazy, I'm Trying Out For Roller Derby

I'll be 37 years old in less than two months. I'm overweight. I'm out of shape. Whatever has possessed me to think I can be on the roller derby team?!

Yes folks, I've collided head on with the insanity train and I'm going to try out for roller derby on Tuesday. That's what I get for talking to my brother.

What started out a a casul conversation about the bout I attended Saturday turned into a serious conversation about me trying to get on the team. My brother is the bench coach for Dark River Derby Coalition (DRDC) and his wife is a blocker on the team.

I attended the last bout of the season Saturday and I just so happened to mention how the bouts stir up a fire in me that most other sports don't. One thing led to another and my brother mentioned that tryouts are coming up...and I should try out. After MUCH convincing and some serious confidence coddling, I told Donnie I'd give it a shot.

I'm scared as all get out. I've seen those bouts. It's no joke. Those girls have balls of steel.

I'd also be the oldest on the team. Most of the girls are in their twenties. If they are in their thirties, it's the early side of. Not to mention my brother is a no-holds-barred kind of guy. I'm positive he won't take it easy on me just because we're blood.

On the plus side, I'm a fairly proficient skater. And I have good lower body strength. And I can at least say I tried.

Please don't tell me to "break a leg". I actually might!

My Review:

Horror movies are my fave, especially around Halloween time. There's something about being on the edge of my seat, waiting in suspense, and having a good scare that gets my adrenaline rushing. I don't dream with visions of gore dancing in my head, but I like to get spooked or see a horror movie with a twist. The only scary movies I can never watch again are the Nightmare on Elm Street series. Those movies traumatized me as a child! Anyway, recently during down time, I got some scares in while watching Dark Passengers: 8 Movie Collection on DVD. These eight movies, broke down on two DVDs, feature some of the best gore, shock, and terror. These movies aren't for the weakhearted!

I've previously watched Hostel, Hostel Part II, and Hollow Man, but had never viewed the other movies featured in this collection. I've seen several films in the horror genre that present the characters or killers in nonsensical scenarios. They become too campy. The movies featured in this eight film collection don't fall into that category. All eight movies are a testament to true horror.

Kia has released an informative, fun video all about the Evolution Of The Modern Car! The video is a trip down memory lane from 1880 to the cars we know and love today. Watch this cute two-minute video and learn when car parts and accessories came in to play. For instance, you'll find that rubber tires were introduced in the 1890s and the cup holder came about in the 1950s.

Oral-B Pro Health For Me - Toothbrush Review

I received product for review.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.

I know all too well the importance of oral hygiene. I know because I didn't do so well with it myself and paid a hefty price. Sugars and acid eroded my top teeth and I'm now doomed to top falsies. That's why I harp to my kids the signifigance of proper brushing and healthy eating habits.

I think any toobhrush is better than none, but I'm of the personal opinion that rechargeable toothbrushes work a tad better than manual ones. They seem to have the extra oomph to get rid of food and particles. One toothbrush that Emma has been recently using is the Oral-B Pro Health For Me Rechargeable Toothbrush.

Designed for tweens, the Oral-B Pro Health For Me Rechargeable Toothbrush has a waterproof handle with designs that are attractive to the younger crowd. Included with the toothbrush is a small charging station to plug in when the toothbrush needs a new charge. Also included are two Sensitive Clean toothbrush heads. The charging station is small so it doesn't take up a lot of space. It does, however, require an outlet to plug in the cord when charging.
There are a few features on this toothbrush that make it advanced and user-friendly. There are indicators on the bristles that fade halfway when it's time to replace the heads. There's also a brushing timer so tweens can brush their teeth for the recommended time of two minutes without having to guess. The rotating bristles help ensure gunk and food particles are removed. Although there are two heads included with the toothbrush, replacement heads can also be purchased when needed.

Emma isn't usually one I have to bother with brushing her teeth but I can tell she finds a little more excitement in the mundane chore with the Oral-B Pro Health For Me toothbrush. She says she can feel the vibrations as she brushes and likes how it feels on her teeth. She also says her teeth feel really clean after brushing. The heads, to me, seem a little tiny for her 11 year-old teeth but I think they'll do for now and I can always purchase bigger replacement heads at a later time.

The Oral-B Pro Health for Me Rechargeable Toothbrush and Oral-B Pro Health For Me Sensitive Clean Brush Head Refills can be purchased at your local local Walmart.

While we're on the subject of good oral hygiene and products that promote it, I encourage you to to participate in Trick or Treat with America's ToothFairy. Your donation will go directly to helping children in need, and you can also be entered to win a Halloween Jack-o-Lantern bucket fromSmileMakers filled with 144 toys. Kids can get involved too and receive fun stickers and a certificate recognizing them as an Official ToothFairy Helper by the ToothFairy herself!

Tips for a Healthy Halloween from America's ToothFairy!

Make this year memorable and sweet without all the sugar with these fun tips for a healthy Halloween! Give 'em a treat without the sweet! Hand out sugar-free candy, toothbrushes or fun little toys to trick or treaters!

Make sure your child has a healthy meal before Halloween festivities to avoid snacking and a sugar overload!

If you are hosting a party, use healthy foods to make fun treats that the kids can enjoy. With a little fruit, some paper plates and toothpicks, children can create their own Monster Face. Melon balls or grapes make great monster’s eyeballs.  Simply spear the melon balls with the toothpicks and poke through the paper plate. For the monster’s nose, spear strawberries or orange slices, and for the monster’s smile, a banana will do just fine!

For a healthy smile year round, remember to brush, and floss your teeth twice a day and visit your dentist once every six months! For children ages 6 and up, use a fluoride rinse.

Trick or Treat with America's ToothFairy this year and help raise awareness and support to portect young smiles and help kids in need!

Facebook Faux Pas - I love the 200 Facebook photos of your bar visits. You should post some shots of your kids.

I realize that Facebook is a wonderful media to reconnect and share with friends and family. It's so easy to post a quick status to let all your peeps know your mood and what you're cooking for supper.

There are a few things, though, that drive me absolutely batty when I see it posted on Facebook. Here's my list of Facebook faux pas that make my skin crawl:

1. If you can't spell, you have no right to post a status. Granted, I'm usually a super stickler for spelling but there's some words you JUST SHOULD KNOW. If you don't, there's numerous resources online and in print form that will help you learn those words. We all make grammatical mistakes but don't make Facebook be the one to show off your real intelligence.

2. Don't share every post or picture you see. I want my feed to be a rolling timeline of what all my friends are doing, not just you! I don't want to log in and see nothing but status after shared status of something you think is amusing.

3. Share your feelings with the group, not the whole world. Everyone has bad days and it's okay to vent once in a while. But, if your Facebook life has more drama than a soap opera, I'd say you need to log off Facebook real quick and take care of reality. Facebook is NOT a Dear Abby online hotline.

4. If you post a status (positive, negative, or otherwise), expect a response. Don't post how much you hate so and so or how your life sucks, then get royally irked when someone gives their own opinion in response or tells you how to solve that problem.

5. Don't believe everything you see or hear. Just as with other social media, Facebook isn't always truthful. There's two sides to every story. And some pictures are photoshopped. (I know, shocker!) Just because you see a picture of a baby with bruises and sores or a snake that's as tall as the Sears Tower, doesn't make it real. I swear, there's a crowd of special people out there who photoshop pics and post them on the Internet just to see how many folk will pass it on as the gospel truth.

6. Don't post about someone's death or trauma until you know the family knows. Working as a 9-1-1 Dispatcher, I've seen my fair share of blowhards who post about someone's death within a matter of minutes. Or they THINK someone is dead and it circulates as such. Geez Louise, have some respect!

7. If it's time for your kid to come in for supper, don't post it on their Timeline. If there's something pressing or real personal that you need to tell someone, pick up a phone or see them in person. Some things should be between two people and two people alone.

Other than that, Keep Calm and Facebook On!

So, tell me, what are some Facebook faux pas that drive you cuckoo for cocoa puffs?!

Fortune Girls empowers tweens to believe in themselves and encourages them to pursue their dreams.

Fortune Girls is a multi-media brand on fire to empower tween girls! Created by a teen  and her mom, Fortune Girls is changing the world and needs your help!  Fortune Girls is on a mission to empower tween girls ages 6 to 12 all around the world through their multi-cultural Fortune Girls characters.  They aim to raise $20,000 to produce an animated short featuring the Fortune Girls characters!

Team FG is oozing with creativity and will use webisodes as a platform to discuss issues that are critical for tween girls such as bullying and self-esteem issues. They just want to entertain, make girls giggle and help them to feel good about themselves and deliver this message in a fun and engaging way! Team FG has spent a lot of time working on characters likes, dislikes, cultural backgrounds and storylines. It was important to us that these characters be more than just pretty pictures.  They wanted to create a hilarious short with a purpose. The FGs are not perfect by any stretch; but, then again, who is?

Fortune Girls has a Kickstarter campaign going on right now with only 22 days left to reach their entire goal.  Team FG needs to raise $20,000 to fund their project.  If the goal isn't reached, your credit cards are never charged.  If the goal is reached, there will be nice gifts in store for their backers.  For instance, if you pledge $1 or more, you will receive a very special thanks on the Fortune Girls Facebook page and your name will also be included in their email blog.  The gifts get larger with the more you pledge.  If you are all about empowering tween girls, I encourage you to help Fortune Girls reach their goal.
