Synopsis

Oscar® Winner Sandra Bullock* and Oscar® Nominee Melissa McCarthy** are a “dynamite duo” (George Pennacchio, KABC-TV) in this outrageously funny comedy from the director of Bridesmaids, Paul Feig. Uptight FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Bullock) and foul-mouthed Boston cop Shannon Mullins (McCarthy) couldn't be more incompatible. But when they join forces to bring down a ruthless drug lord, they become the last thing anyone expected...buddies.

My Review:

Finally, a movie that calls itself a comedy and is actually a comedy!  I've waited a long time for a comedy that isn't campy or slapstick, and The Heat delivers.  I laughed....a lot.

The Heat stars Sandra Bullock as Sarah Ashburn, an FBI agent who is uptight and pompous.  She thinks she has it all together and is a know-it-all.  The people she works with aren't impressed with her snobbish attitude.  Sarah gets sent to another location to bring down a drug ring, and she comes across Shannon Mullins, a detective (played by Melissa McCarthy).  Shannon is the complete opposite of Sarah.  Her living quarters, frumpy clothes, and foul mouth repulse Sarah.  The unlikely pair must work as a team and get across their differences to find the kingpin.

The Heat has a lot of rough language, especially delivered by Shannon.  She's a brute with a tough attitude. The two main characters work together well as a comedic pair to ensure plenty of laughs. This is the funniest movie I've seen in a long time.
