Fashionable Apparel and Accessories at Persunmall

In exchange for this post, I will be receiving product for review.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.
HEAD TURNING PROM DRESSES 2013

Persunmall is a global website online shopping store offering fashion-forward clothing, jewelries, accessories, shoes and bags for the high street in the blink of an eye.  They also offer a beautiful selection of prom dresses 2013.  Persunmall endeavors to offer simple and comfort but fashionable clothing at affordable prices and satisfactory services.

I've created a wishlist of pieces that I'd love to own from Persunmall:

I'm going to be a guest at my niece's wedding in September and this cocktail dress would make a simple, yet elegant statement.
I'll be hanging out at the campground pool a lot this summer.  The cut and form of this swimsuit is just my style.

In the colder months, I almost always wear a hoodie.  I love the sassy attitude this one brings forth.

The contrast of the stripes and polka dots on this shirt really stand out and it's the one I'll be receiving for review.  I'm already thinking of where I can first wear it.

If you could create a wishlist from the pieces at Persunmall, what would you choose?

Memorial Day Weekend Memories

We've been camping every weekend for a while now and so have several of the other people that stay at the same campground, but Memorial Day weekend was the first big shindig for the place.  Saturday was the busiest with a live band, poker stand, carry-in supper, Bingo, and golf cart parade.  Sunday was a trivia game and trap shoot.

There were close to ten golf carts that participated in the parade.  Each one was decorated.  We traveled throughout the entire campground handing out candy to all the kids.

I had a variety of candy on hand to ensure each kid had a sugar high for the rest of the day.

The carry-in supper had enough food to please everyone's tastebuds.

During breaks at the band, me and Jenny passed our free time by posing for goofy pictures.

The trap shoot is a yearly tradition that's held as a memorial fundraiser.  I've never paid much mind to it except to curse once in a while that all day I'd hear shots firing.  This year, I actually took the time to watch most of the event.

Logan's never shot a gun before but wanted to participate.  After giving him a lecture that I'm sure he thought would never end, I paired him up with a responsible adult who showed him how to shoot.  Logan only shot five rounds but it certainly made his day.

Jason's shot a gun before but has never been part of a trap shoot.  He wasn't such a straight shot with the clay pigeons but enjoyed the experience nonetheless.

How did you celebrate Memorial Day weekend?

Wordful Wednesday - 8th Grade Graduation

Logan and Adam graduated from 8th grade last Thursday.  Commencement was held to celebrate the transition from junior high to high school.  I cannot wrap my head around the fact that next school year both boys will be Freshmen.  In my mind's eye, they're still my little guys.
Logan and Adam were none too keen that they had to dress up for the occasion.  Somewhere, for some reason, the school had extra ties on hand which was a good thing because both Logan and Adam managed to mangle and tear the ones they had apart trying to get them on.

The graduating class was made up of 39 kids so the graduation wasn't too awful long.  Logan and Adam were the first two to walk in and the last two to walk out.

Technically, Logan should have graduated 8th grade last year but he was held back in kindergarten, making both boys in the same grade.  It worked out for me because all events for both boys were held at the same time.

Interestingly enough, Adam and Logan never had the same teacher or same classes, so they didn't have to interact with each other much at school.  The boys were quite okay with that arrangement.

Me and Logan

Me, my mother, my oldest daughter, Adam

After the graduation, a celebration of food and gifts was held at a hunting lodge.  The place was fit for a king.  The celebration was held for some of the graduating boys.  The girls had their own after-party elsewhere.

Adam wanted nothing to do with the celebration afterwards and opted instead to go home.

Logan wanted to hang with his classmates one last time before summer break so he stayed for the party.  Card tables were set up for each boy and decorated.  Both boys made bank.

I'm super proud of Logan and Adam.  They've caused me little grief throughout the school years and both have work hard to accomplish their goals.

Now, to prepare for the graduation party I'll be having in just a couple of weeks.  Have any ideas for favors or decorations?

Teen Wolf: Season Two - DVD Review

I received product for review.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.

DVD Synopsis:

After an action-packed end to its premiere season, Teen Wolf jumps full force into season two with even more suspenseful drama. Scott McCall, an ordinary teenager with a wild secret, continues to find himself caught in a supernatural war between hunters and werewolves. While navigating the complicated roadways of high school, Scott must keep his forbidden romance with Allison a secret and protect himself from new Alpha wolf Derek. Scott will have to trust his instincts above all else if he hopes to end the war in Beacon Hills and keep his friends and family safe.

My Review:

Being a fan of books and movies on the supernatural, I was intrigued to watch season one of Teen Wolf. I received Season One on DVD for review and became a fan of the series.  The same can be said for Teen Wolf:  Season Two.  Granted, the show is probably aimed more towards older teenagers but I found myself hooked from beginning to end when I watched each episode of the DVD series. Comedy mixed in with cliffhangers and an added bit of eye candy make this a fascinating show.

Wrong Way At The 5K

My 14 yoa boy Logan took part in a 5K run a couple weeks ago.  He's participated in several before but this one was the largest he's been a part of, with over 2200 participants.  Some were walkers, some were 5Kers, and others were 10Kers.  Me, I was a spectator.

The event was well organized and you could feel the positive energy.  Logan was in top form and was one of the leaders for the longest time.  Until....

At one point, the 10K runners veered off to one direction and the 5K runners were to go another way.  There were no arrows and a map wasn't available beforehand.  Because he was in the front of the pack, he didn't have much guidance.  I was at the finish line waiting, and waiting, and waiting.

Finally, after what seemed like forever, Logan crosses the finish line.  Rather than go the 5K route, he took the wrong route towards the end and wound up running more than the required three miles.  Halfway through the 10K route, a lightbulb clicked and he noticed he was off track.  He took a U-turn and finally found his way to the 5K route, making his finishing time way off whack.

While he was all salty and carrying on about how he could've probably won for his age group, I did what any proper mother would do.  I laughed and laughed some more.  Then I laughed when he was mad about me laughing.  He found no humor in it.

Logan hardly ever gets mad (I'm a lucky mother that way) and watching him spew about how the finisher's medal he received will only remind him of how poorly he did struck my funny chord.  So, I laughed some more.

Later that day, I put on my parental panties and had a talk with him about it.  He concluded that it really wasn't the end of the world and he enjoyed being a part of it.  Next time, I doubt he takes a wrong way at the 5K.

Happy Memorial Day!

I'd like to pause and reflect to remember those who died while serving to protect our freedom.  My gratefulness is extended to all who've served.

We had a large Memorial Day weekend celebration at the campground and now I'm wore out.  A trap shoot, cookout, band, raffle, trivia game, and golf cart parade kept us all entertained.  It's because of those who fight to protect my rights and freedoms that I'm able to freely spend time with family and friends doing those fun things.  Again, thank you veterans.

Thompson's Water Seal - Review and Giveaway

I received products for review.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.
Almost every weekend, for seven months out of the year, my family goes camping.  Rather than "rough it" we have our own camper parked at a campsite and it sits there all year long.  It's our home away from home.  Because we are there so often, I want my camper and the site it's on to have a reflection of cleanliness and proper maintenance.

A couple years ago, during the move from one campsite to another, we acquired a deck and steps left by previous owners.  This was exciting to us because we didn't have to purchase or build our own.  The only downfall is that the deck and steps needed either painted or stained to look good.  Finally, that time came when Thompson's Water Seal sent us waterproofing stain and deck stripper to do the overdue project.

The steps were natural and didn't have previous stain or paint on them so the only thing I needed to do was stain them.  I first wiped them down with a rag to remove dirt and debris, then I prepped the waterproofing stain.  There are several cautions and instructions on the can that need to be read before diving in, for safety purposes.

The steps were painted over with one coat of waterproofing stain.  The color gave them a nice brown wooden polished look, while still showing the actual grain of the wood.

The picnic table was next.  Again, I went over it with just one coat.  There was a dramatic improvement from how it looked before and how it looked after staining the table.

The biggest project was our deck.  It required first using the Deck Stripper.  It contains corrosives so it's important not to let it come in contact with skin.  As it shows in the picture above, the deck was two-toned with different paint colors and it was showing signs of paint chipping.  After carefully applying the deck stripper and letting it sit for a bit, I chipped off the excess paint and proceeded to stain my deck.

As you can see from this picture, the bottom of the deck is now all one color and has a nice, cohesive look.  I used two coats of stain for the deck to get a darker brown tint.  Temperatures need to be above 50 degrees and during daylight hours to apply the stain.  The deck stripper can be applied at any time.  Staining the deck twice, the steps once, and the picnic table once used a gallon and a half of waterproofing stain.

Because all of these items are outdoors in all kinds of conditions, I'm glad to know that I've not only added a much nicer color, I'm also preventing water damage and the coating resists mildew & UV damage.  Using Thompson's Water Seal deck stripper and waterproofing stain, the area around my campsite has an updated, fresh look.

Win It!

One person will win Thompson's Water Seal Deck Stripper and Waterproofing Stain.

Taking Part In the U.S. Cellular Better Moments Blogger Brigade

I received compensation for this post.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.
Did you know that U.S. Cellular treats their customers like neighbors, not numbers?  How about the fact that U.S. Cellular was named a J.D. Power and Associates Customer Service Champion in 2012 for the second year in a row?  That's right; In 2013, the company also received their 15th consecutive J.D. Power and Associates' award for "Highest Network Quality Performance Among Wireless Cell Phone Users In The North Central Region."  Were you aware that U.S. Cellular has a strong line-up of cutting-edge devices that are all backed by its high-speed network that has the highest call quality of any national carrier?

Those are all great reasons to be a U.S. Cellular customer but it's not the main reason why I'm one.  I'm a U.S. Cellular customer because I can have a quality phone with an affordable service plan and customer service that answers my needs.  In fact, several of my family members are also U.S. Cellular customers - my mother, my oldest daughter, my brother, my sister-in-law, and my sister.

At one time, we were all purchasers of a different cell phone plan through a local company.  That particular company ended up going out of business and we were in a crunch, trying to figure out which cellular company to switch to.  I'd go to one place to figure out prices and plans, while my brother would be at another location getting the same numbers.  None appealed to us....until we went to U.S. Cellular.

U.S. Cellular was a company that we all agreed on as being the best for customer service, affordable plans, and variety of phones.  I wanted one particular phone while my daughter wanted another.  The employees at U.S. Cellular were kind and helped us decide which phone would work for each of our needs.  They also explained the service plans in layman's terms.

I've been a U.S. Cellular customer for over a year now and have had only one minor problem with my service.  As soon as I went into the store and spoke with an employee, the problem was solved.  I didn't get the run-around.

At first, when I had to quickly find another cell phone company to switch to, I was worried.  I wasn't ready for change.  Now, in hindsight, it wasn't as big of a hassle because I found all I needed with U.S. Cellular.

Because I'm a happy customer of U.S. Cellular, I'm proud to announce I've been selected to be a part of the U.S. Cellular Better Moments Blogger Brigade.  Each month I'll be posting about my experiences with U.S. Cellular, facts about the company, and what they have to offer.

Dermagist - Review and Giveaway

I received product for review.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.

It wasn't until just a few years ago that I really started taking care of my skin.  As I noticed the fine lines and undereye circles, I became more aware of the importance of using products to moisturize and repair my skin.  As I've tried out and tested different products, I've noticed some are more effective than others.

Dermagist, a company with a commitment to industry scientific advancement, has a product line of anti-aging and daily skin maintenance formulas.  The company takes known, brand name ingredients and combines them into unique and specialized formulas.  In addition, Dermagist has introduced Metahylate®, a one-and-only blend from the scientists at Dermagist.

I was given the opportunity to try the Instant Effect Lifting Serum from Dermagist, a skin formula that claims to instantly tighten skin comfortably with no film.  Plus, with powerful peptides like Matrixyl, it targets wrinkles long-term.  This instant-effect product undertakes a two-pronged approach. First is the instant effect it provides on wrinkles and lines. The second aspect is that it aims to help the wrinkles on a long term basis by saturating them with replenishing, specially engineered moisture particles.

I've been applying the Instant Effect Lift Serum daily for a couple weeks now onto my face and neck.  Pumping out a couple of dollops, I apply it onto freshly washed skin.  The serum is milky white in color and goes on clear.  It doesn't take a lot for a single application.  After using it for some time now, I've seen noticable changes in my skin.  The fine lines are less visible and there's more softness.  When it's applied, the serum quenches my face and feels like it's been saturated with moisurization.  The bottle itself is rather small and the price for the product is a little pricey.  With that said, I can see an improvement in my skin's texture and a little goes a long way.

Win It!

One person will win Instant Effect Lifting Serum ($79 ARV).
