Made It Out of Skater Tot Status

It's official - I'm no longer a Skater Tot! I can now proudly say I'm a full-fledged member of Dark River Derby Coalition. I've met all practice and monetary requirements by the deadline. It's been over three months of blood, sweat, and tears. I'm a derby girl!

Professional individual and group photos were taken Sunday. I won't get those until a later time but my teenager took a few photos of my get-up that I wore for the pics. I'm not quite sure what a 'Pain Dispatcher' looks like but I made up my own persona and went with it.
I'd like to say that because I'm a roller derby girl I can participate in the bouts and scrimmages, but here comes the part that blows: I still haven't completed the required skill minimum of 27 laps in 5 minutes. The last two times I've tried I've been stuck on 21 laps. I'm not the only newbie that still hasn't completed that requirement, but it's completely devastating each time I try and don't make it. Come hell or high water, I'm gonna make it happen!

That's me standing in the middle by the big white board actin' all official and stuff.

Sunday was also the first scrimmage of the year. Several girls from several area teams got together and battled it out. Bouts are official. Scrimmages are not. Scrimmages are practice runs for when the real deal begins in May.

Although I wasn't out there on skates doing the roller derby thing, I played the part of an NSO (non-skating official). It was my job to keep track of each player's penalties and what they were for. A small part, but a part nonetheless.

It is my goal to have the minimum skills requirement met by March 9 when the next scrimmage comes around. I'm a woman on a mission of pain and a desire to skate!

I used to love to roller skate - although I highly doubt I could do those 27 laps in 5 minutes. that sounds wicked fast!
