The Shape Family Babies - Children's Book Review and Giveaway

I received book for review. The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way. Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services. Your opinions and results may differ.

Mr. and Mrs. Shape are expecting a baby, but they are surprised when three arrive! The first is just like Mother Rhombus, the other just like Father Rectangle, the third baby is a different shape. What should her name be? Go on a geometry naming adventure as all the shape family relatives weigh in. Will Cousin Triangle, Aunt Hexagon or Grandma Rhombus have the right angle?

The Shape Family Babies is a 2014 Spring Release by Arbordale Publishing.

My Review:

This story tells of a couple who marry and have babies. The first two kids are easy to recognize and name, but they have a hard time with the third. Family members give their opinions on what the shape baby should be named and the reasoning. Finally, a Great-Aunt comes up with the baby's name.

All characters have different shaped bodies and the book explains what each shape is. It's a good way for children to learn shapes they otherwise might not know about. The "For Creative Minds" section in the back of the book enhances learning with a Name That Shape activity, information on shape parts, and information on quadrilaterals. Younger children will not have a hard time with the story part of the book, but the "For Creative Minds" section may take more mental capacity due to the lengthy words and descriptions.

Win It!

Star. I never really thought about it. That's the one I draw a lot in lecture when I'm teaching how to use the program InDesign.
