Fun at Six Flags Great America

Last Friday my husband and I, along with a co-worker and her younger son, spent the day at Six Flags Great America. Becky and her boy have Season Passes to the park and it was 'Bring A Friend Free Day' so me and Jason scored on free admission.

As with most other theme parks and big events, food and beverages will eat you in costs. The most frustrating part of the day was the food line during lunch hour. It was a horrible mess and the workers seemed to have no clue. With that said, it was the only snafu we ran into.

Becky and I are both roller coaster enthusiasts so it was an adrenaline rush to go on the big rides with loops, drops, twists and turns. Jason mainly stuck to the "cupcake rides" that don't cause your stomach to drop. After a couple hours, though, he put on his big boy panties and rode The Demon with me. I was proud of him; it took a lot to do that. AND high of all highs, he enjoyed the ride!

My big kid side came out when I saw Porky Pig. I went in for the photo op!

Six Flags Great America touts itself as the cleanest theme park in the world. I don't know if that holds true, but I do know they were quick and on the job when it came to cleaning up the place.

On a side note, don't ever be the parent that wants to risk their child's safety just so they can go on a ride. If they're too short, they're too short. I witnessed a grown man embarrass himself when he went on a tirade about his child being too small for a ride. This tirade went on for over 45 minutes and held up the line for the other children who were there to ride. Be ashamed, sir, be very ashamed.

Have you ever been to Six Flags? Do you enjoy riding roller coasters?

No one in our house likes roller coasters, but we all love many of the other rides at Six Flags New England.

I haven't been to Great America in so long. Like... since maybe 2003! I really want to go for fright fest this year!

We've been to the one near Chicago (my first time was last summer). It's the theme park my hubby grew up with, so he's got a soft spot for it. I love roller coasters. I also like that double decker carousel.

How cool that your husband rode. Mine's not doing it, no way, no how. Good thing I've got kids. ;)

We would go every summer as a kid. I took mine about 5 years ago. I was a little sad to see it seemed more run down than what I remembered. We still had a great time though! And photo ops with the characters are always fun!

Six Flags is awesome and there are great rides for adults too. Fun fact: I was kicked off the Superman roller coaster because I was deemed to tall (6'5").

Great pics of your time at Six Flags! Looks like your family had a wonderful time. Thanks for visiting me at Doorkeeper last week. I wanted to hop over sooner but life got the best of me ;) Blessings!
