Wordful Wednesday - First and Last Eating Challenge

Last month a new restaurant, Chick's On the River, opened in our small city. It's the second restaurant location for the eatery, with the first and original being located about an hour away.

My co-worker, not too long ago, noticed the restaurant offers a Big A** Challenge. It's an eating competition where a team of two has one hour to consume an ice cream pie, 25 Chicken Lips, and 16 oz. of sauce. Not one to pass up a challenge, Josh enlisted my husband to give it a go.

I had faith in both guys. After all, they don't shy away from food. But, after seeing the mounds of food in person I knew it was definitely going to be a challenge. The restaurant made sure to hand pick the biggest and fattest Chicken Lips they could find and pile them on the plates. Looking at it all made my stomach hurt.

The first half hour went fairly well. Jason and Josh were above par and were shoveling their mouths with food. The last half hour went downhill. Chewing in and of itself became a tedious task. It became clear that the challenge would not be completed.

The manager of the restaurant stated Jason and Josh were the first team in Quincy to take on the Big A** Challenge, so that's kind of a big deal in and of itself. As for the Macomb location, over 65 teams have tried and only one has successfully completed it. I give the guys kudos for trying. They made it farther than I ever would've.

Jason swears it's the first and last eating challenge he'll ever take on. He was in a food coma for the rest of the day. And the mere mention of Chicken Lips sends him into a tizzy.

Have you ever or would you ever partake in a food eating competition?

Hahahaha! I have always wanted to do a man vs food myself, but I know I wouldn't be able to. Or maybe I would....

Nope, never could. I'd throw up and that wouldn't be a pretty sight. Good for them for giving it a go though. My husband tried this burger challenge in a place in FL once. This burger was like double the size of a dinner plate. Yeah he didn't even finish half lol. That cake looks incredible!!

Kuddos for trying. The cake looks delicious, but that is enough food for 6 people. I don't think I would ever want to see food again.

I couldn't do it. It reminds me of Stand By Me when the big boy had to eat cream pies. They kept chanting, "Wide Load!" It makes me sick to force food. I get the fun in it to.

I haven't taken part in food eating competitions but I have thought about it. I'm pretty sure I could down a pie all by myself lol Although I've thought about it, I would never do it because I couldn't stand to be watched by people while I was shoving food into my face!!
