You See, The Thing Is...

We all have our quirks and qualms. Mine is I fidget. A lot. I blame it on my mother.

There's this guy who comes in to our work often. Although he has the demeanor of Eeyore, he's a hard worker and doesn't treat dispatchers like drudges. All in all, I get along pretty well with him. With one exception...
EVERY sentence starts with the words "You see, the thing is". If he's being adventurous, he might start a sentence with "I'll be honest with you".

It seriously shouldn't bother me but my mind is so in tune with it that my ears can't help but hear it EverySingleTime. When he comes in for a two hour visit I almost want to slice my wrists because I know I'll hear "You see, the thing is" or "I'll be honest with you" a hundred million trillion times. By the time it's over, my ears are bleeding.

You see, the thing is, I'll be honest and tell you I CAN'T TAKE IT! I prefer water torture please.

Do you know anyone that has quirks or qualms that drive you crazy? Or am I just a mean ole' prude?

Once you hear it, you cannot unhear it!! There's a guy at my work who always smells terrible when he leans in close. So now I cannot not think of him as the smelly guy.

HAHAHA!
My mother in law used to say, "You know what I'm sayin?" after every freakin sentence. She doesn't do it anymore (I don't know why but I don't question it!!!) so keep up hope that your pal may someday stop. Not likely, but possible!
