My Yellow Balloon - Children's Book Review and Giveaway

I received book for review. The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way. Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services. Your opinions and results may differ.

Book Synopsis:

It all started at the carnival...That's where Joey makes a new friend: a bright yellow balloon. Joey and his beloved balloon do everything together, until the balloon accidentally slips off Joey's wrist and flies far, far away. What will Joey do without his special friend? Tiffany Papageorge has crafted a poignant tale of love, loss, and letting go that will serve as a comforting guide to children who are navigating the complicated emotions of grief. Rich, luminous illustrations by Erwin Madrid perfectly capture these timeless themes, making them accessible to even the youngest reader. Honest, unflinching, and ultimately reassuring, My Yellow Balloon will resonate with anyone who has endured the darkness of grief, while offering hope for brighter days ahead.

My Review:

A hardcover book with beautiful and colorful illustrations, My Yellow Balloon tells of a child who received a yellow balloon at a carnival. The child, Joey, becomes enamored with the balloon and takes it everywhere. Then one day the balloon floats away. Joey goes through a string of emotions, with some of them being sadness, anger and grief. Just when he thinks things can't get better, they actually do. Joey realizes that, over time, his sadness is lifted and he can learn to enjoy life again. He's able to move on to other things, even while never forgetting about his special yellow balloon.

My Yellow Balloon ultimately shows children that it's okay to grieve and go through a series of emotions when they lose something. Whether it be a pet, a toy, or something else near and dear that a child grieves over, they can find validation and comfort in My Yellow Ballon.

I am hoping to win this book to donate to help a needy child at Christmas time in the Toys for Tots program.
Thank you for this opportunity.

Once upon a time, years ago Toys for Tots donated toys that provided my kids a beautiful Christmas when I couldn't afford to get them any gifts for 2 rough years and I will never forget that and so I want to do everything I can to give back to that cause each year.
