Mr. Peabody & Sherman Time Period Party

I received products in exchange for this post.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.

Mr. Peabody & Sherman, released to Blu-ray and DVD October 14th, tells of Mr. Peabody, a genius dog who embarks on adventures with his son.  They race against time to repair history and save the future.

Within the movie, four time periods are featured - Ancient Egypt, Trojan War, Italian Renaissance and The French Revolution.  With a few nieces and nephews to take part, I hosted a Mr. Peabody & Sherman Time Period Party centered around the Ancient Egypt time period.
While snacking on pita bread and pumpkin muffins, I went over a few facts about Ancient Egypt with the kids.  For instance, we learned that the gold mask of King Tut was adorned as such because gold was considered to contain the powers of the sun gods and was referred to as the "flesh of the gods".

To further our Ancient Egypt fun, we drew pyramids on paper and imagined what kings or gods would live in them.  I printed out activity sheets and gave prizes to the winners of games.  The best part of the evening was when we put our creative skills to the test and created headdresses and collar necklaces using construction paper, glitter, rhinestones, and ribbon.    Using their imaginations, the kids were transported to an interesting time period.

If you could go back in time, which period or era would you want to visit?  Have you watched Mr. Peabody & Sherman yet?
