Dumb and Dumber To - Blu-ray Review

I received product for review.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.

Two decades after Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels’ endearingly dense pairing spun slapstick comedy into box office gold in Dumb and Dumber, the long-awaited sequel, Dumb and Dumber To, arrived on Digital HD on February 3, 2015 and on DVD and Blu-ray™ Combo Pack and On Demand on February 17, 2015 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels reprise their signature roles as Lloyd and Harry in the sequel to the smash hit that took the physical comedy and kicked it in the nuts: Dumb and Dumber To. The original film’s directors, Peter and Bobby Farrelly, take Lloyd and Harry on a road trip to find a child Harry never knew he had and the responsibility neither should ever, ever be given. Along for the ride are co-stars Kathleen Turner, Laurie Holden, and Rob Riggle.

My Review:

The same year my daughter was born, Dumb and Dumber was released.  I was happy for the former, not so much for the latter.  The couple of times I watched Dumb and Dumber, I felt the comedy was forced and overly exaggerated.  Quite frankly, I found very little humor in it.

Knowing that Dumb and Dumber To featured the same two main characters, I was almost sure it'd be another movie of lost amusement.  Surprisingly, I found Dumb and Dumber To to be point on with tomfoolery.  The gags were actually funny and they didn't seem conscripted.

Dumb and Dumber To tells of Lloyd and Harry reuniting after several years.  Lloyd had been in an institution and Harry visited often to take care of him.  When Lloyd "comes to" he learns that Harry needs a kidney transplant.  After finding out that Harry is adopted (so a kidney from the parents is out of the question) he is informed that he has a grown child.  The two set out to find the daughter to see if she's a match.  Along the way, the pair come across a lot of roadblocks (partly because they are the epitome of dumb) and the daughter's life is in danger.

This movie is one of those times when I felt the sequel trumped the original.

Have you watched Dumb and Dumber?  What about Dumb and Dumber To?  Who is your favorite, Lloyd or Harry?

The first time I seen Dumb and Dumber I didn't like it either but the more I watched it the more I liked it. I'm hoping I will like the second one too.
