Ice cream and a movie

We recently had a small family movie night with a couple of my kids and some of my great-nieces to view Russell Madness.  Watching the film while eating ice cream gave us the opportunity to spend some quality time together and watch a great new release.

A talking dog, a talking monkey, and slapstick comedy kept us captivated while watching Russell Madness.  The story tells of a dog named Russell who is taken in by a family after he escapes a pet store.  This particular family, the Ferraros, are striving to revive a pro wrestling arena.  They learn that Russell has wrestling talent and the dog becomes a big sensation.  He takes on wrestlers of the human kind while being coached by a monkey.  Strife ensues when a promoter tries to claim the dog as his.  The family fights to keep Russell in their family.

The film is predictable and some of the scenes are campy but, overall, Russell Madness is an enjoyable film that kids will probably get a kick out of.  Viewers will root for Russell as he wrestles his opponents, and the heartfelt theme that family bonds matter will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy.
Madelyn, Jaucelyn, and Faythe were quite enamored with the movie.

Have you watched Russell Madness yet?  What's your favorite film featuring animals?
