Random Tuesday Thoughts - Derby Win and Cable Drop

Yippee, it's another week of Random Tuesday Thoughts, hosted by Stacy Uncorked.  If you'd like to play along, link up and post your randomness.
I've been jonesin' for some mushrooms.  When and if I ever find a mess, I'm gonna eat the ENTIRE plate of them by myself.  And without shame.

My husband did happen to find a lone mushroom in our yard the other day.  He actually soaked it in salt water, then fried it up, and let me eat it all.  It was glorious heaven.  All two bites of it.
Because the price of cable is ridiculous, I dropped it all together on Thursday.  Now we are a Netflix family.

I don't miss having regular television to watch, but apparently I've already become behind on the times.  I just found out two hours ago about the atrocities going on in Boston.  I'm just gonna put it out there:  there is no reason whatsoever for anyone to loot businesses and destroy property.  Protests are one thing; running into a CVS and looting tons of toilet paper is downright ludicrous.  And dumb.  And doesn't prove anything.
I'm like "Where's Waldo" in this picture.  I'm there, halfway hidden.
As you may or may not know, I turned in my roller derby stripes in December and gave up being a referee.  I had an ill mother to take care of.  Now that she's gotten better, I've been asked several times to come back to the team.  I still don't have a decisive answer.
DRDC had their first home bout of the season on Saturday and they rocked it!  Actually, slaughtered it.  The final score was 411 to 28.
Although I did not referee that bout, I did step and help with being the Jam Timer, a non-skating official position.  It was last minute and I seriously thought I was gonna puke.  I had psyched myself up so much that my nerves were a wreck.  All in all, it actually wasn't so bad and now I've kind of stepped up to take on that role for the remaining home bouts.  Go me!
I'm sure there's a bunch more stuff I could ramble on about, but I'll leave it at that this week.  Happy RTT!

Now you've got me jonesin' for some mushrooms. I'll have to recruit the hubby to make up a pan, that's the one thing he actually cooks - even Princess Nagger loves them. I love that your hubby fried up the lone mushroom from your yard - two bites is better than none, eh? ;)

We cut the cable cord, too - we're a Netflix and Hulu+ family, and while there are some shows from TNT or CBS that I miss getting to see regularly, they'll pop up somewhere later - who cares if we're a season behind when it does happen? Gives us more time to focus on other things. Not to mention not paying the highway robbery of cable. :)

I found Waldo! I mean you... ;)

I'm glad to hear your mom's on the mend!!

And hear!hear! for your looting comment. Talk about bad choices, looting hurts everyone in the long run.

I love sauteed mushrooms! I have digital cable and yes it is so expensive. I can no longer drive so I don't go out more than once a week. I have my shows I enjoy and don't want to give up right now.
I found you in the middle of all those derby girls :)

Oh!! and I just had bbq steak tonight and we did NOT have mushrooms! I have failed. that's so unacceptable.

That is a very decisive win! whoa.
someone was just telling me that a women's roller derby league was starting in our area, and I really can't wait to go see it when it's finally happening!

I want to go mushroom hunting sometime. I've never been.

We don't watch TV very much either. When we do it's usually movies from the library.

So what did you do give Jason in exchange for the mushroom? And I was not aware of the atrocities in Boston myself. I was too busy paying attention to the mess in Baltimore! I didn't have time to look for you in the roller derby picture, but I'm sure you look amazing. As long as no face tattoos were involved. Love ya!!!! :-)

When we dropped cable we streamed Netflix, and a ton of other options that are avaible on our Roku, never missed a think. Loved it.
