Random Tuesday Thoughts - Mushrooms and Yard Sales

It's another edition of Random Tuesday Thoughts.  If you'd like to play along, link up at Stacy Uncorked.
------------------
Because of severe abdominal pain, I forced myself to go to the doctor yesterday.  The pain isn't uncommon; I deal with it often due to IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).  But it was becoming unbearable.  The doctor's diagnosis is basically that I'm full of sh*t.  How awesomely awesome is that!

In the meantime, I figured I'd get my annual lady parts checkup while I was at the doctor.  Except it's never been annual for me.  More like every 15 years.  But that's neither here nor there.

Lesson for the day:  It probably wouldn't hurt to actually be seen somewhat regularly by a doctor.  And not wait until my insides feel like they're waging war against me.
----------------------------
It's mushroom huntin' season and those morels are being more elusive than an endangered mammal.  I spent forever and a day in the woods with my husband and boys, with no success.  I'm thiiis close to paying the dreaded $20 a pound for mushrooms just so I can have a mess of 'em this year.  Just thinking about a plate of mushrooms is makin' my mouth water.
------------------------

I went to my first yard sales of the year last Saturday.  I get a natural high out of getting great bargains.  I purchased a fake plant for 25 cents, yo!

I also purchased a ton of other stuff I didn't need.  But it's always nice to get newish things at a bargain basement price.  Oh, and, my husband purchased a patio set for me on Facebook.  For $60 I got the four chairs, glass top table, and tilt umbrella.  Score!

Now that I have a place to sit outside and enjoy the weather, I've been spending a lot of time outdoors breathing in the fresh air.
----------------------------
Do you buy items from yard sales?  Do you go mushroom hunting?  Do you avoid the doctor like a plague?

Happy RTT!

I love mushrooms, but I haven't been hunting for them. I heard on the news there were more this yr.

I go to the doctor once a yr.

I buy stuff from yard sales. I just hate it here because yard sales start on thurs. here. By the time I go on the weekend they are picked over.

I love mushrooms! I don't hunt for them, just go to the grocery store and get them. LOL!
I don't like going to the dr but I go every 3 months due to my disability.I have to get mammograms every year which I don't like and of course getting my female parts checked out.
I like going to garage sales but I like having them even more.I'm moving so I'm donating lots of stuff to the hospice thrift store.I like that the funds go to hospice.

we used to go hunting for mushroom balls when I was younger. they are these great big mushrooms - shaped like a ball - that grow in the dense, damp woods. and they are very tasty! but not in years.

and I love finding used things cheap that I can use in my house or garden. we have a big database of used items that I also check first before buying some stuff. like the china cabinet I got for $100, or the girls bunkbeds for $200. Both real wood and gorgeous. nothing like a great find, at a great price!!
hope you feel better soon. I gotta go call my doctor. :)

I haven't been to the regular doctor for a check up since I've had my last daughter, 11 years ago! I really need to get an appointment scheduled.

Great score on the plant! I love yard sales too. I'll be going to the first of the season this weekend when the neighborhood over has their annual sale.

Full of sh*T! That cracked me up! Niiiice. Yeah, maybe we should make regular Dr. visits, but you know how it goes. I love to get a good deal. I definitely would have purchased that plant! Can't have too many of those. Congrats on the good deal on the patio furniture, too.

Is mushroom hunting something we've been missing out on in the South? I have never heard of such until this year and bloggers have been mentioning mushrooms everywhere I look. We were always told NOT to eat any mushrooms not found in the produce section at Wal-mart....
