Every mom is the queen of her "castle" and for Mother’s Day – and everyday – she can have one of her very own! Ravensburger, which is known for its superior quality puzzles, is offering a 3D puzzle replica of Germany’s iconic Neuschwanstein castle, the inspiration for Disney's Cinderella's Palace. The 216-pc puzzle is made of precision-cut plastic pieces that snap perfectly into place – no glue is ever needed – and molded plastic pieces to "crown" the castle, all for the princely sum of $49.99.
puzzle pieces and instruction booklet
Every little girl, at one time in her life, has most likely dreamed of being a princess and living in a castle. The architecture and grandeur of Neuschwanstein Castle is breathtaking and has probably invoked imaginations of what it would be like to live there. Ravensburger has created a plastic replica of the castle in the form of a 3D puzzle.
My "prince" assembling the castle for his "princess"
My prince, a.k.a. my husband, set out the other night to assemble the 3D puzzle of Neuschwanstein Castle. The total time spent on assembly was a little over two hours. The instruction booklet was helpful in guiding Jason on which pieces went where. Unlike a regular cardboard puzzle, this one has plastic pieces that snap in place. Each piece is numbered and has arrows to show where they need to fit amongst the other pieces. Once all the puzzle pieces were snapped in place, the molded plastic pieces were put on for finishing touches. Although it was somewhat tedious work, Jason had no problem with assembly.
front view of the castle
In my mind's eye, Ravensburger's Neuschwanstein Castle is a cross between a puzzle and a model. It's about piecing things together and building it up. There are no extra tools needed for assembly, and all the pieces fit right where they should.
Jason assembled the castle on our kitchen table and was able to move it to a bookshelf without it falling apart. He had to be moderately methodical about moving it from one place to another, but it stayed in tact.
side view of the castle
The finished piece is stunning. There is a lot of detail and depth to it. Ravensburger's Neuschwanstein Castle is not a toy and I'm not sure how well it would hold up to being played with, but it is a beautiful, eye-catching decorative piece.
Win It!One person will win Ravensburger's Neuschwanstein Castle (ARV $49.99).
