Channing O'Banning - Children Books Review and Giveaway

I received books for review from Tommy Nelson.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.
Channing O'Banning and the Rainforest Rescue Synopsis:

What Happens When Your Least Favorite Person Is Your Only Hope for Rescue?

When Channing O’Banning’s BFF goes gaga over new boy Marco, Channing wishes she could send him back to where he came from. Her wish turns into her worst nightmare when Marco tags along on her family’s dream trip to Marco’s home country of Costa Rica.

With her secret sketchbook in tow, a colored pencil stuck in her ponytail, and adorable pot-bellied pig, Teeny, by her side, Channing embarks on a high-flying adventure through the Costa Rican rainforest. But when the feisty fourth-grade artist makes a few wrong turns and gets lost in the jungle, she discovers that maybe Marco isn’t so bad after all.

Through her wild escapades, Channing learns just how important it is to keep the earth—and friendships—healthy.

Channing O'Banning and the Turquoise Trail Synopsis:

High-Flying Adventure to the Wild West!

When fourth-grade artist Channing O’Banning unearths something very weird on the school playground, she’s sure it’s going to be the biggest thing ever to happen at Greenville Elementary. But things take a rocky turn, and Channing never wants to show her face at school again.

Thankfully, Channing finds lots of rocks to hide under when her family visits the American West. With her signature colored pencil stuck in her ponytail and Teeny, the coolest pig on the planet, by her side, Channing discovers that art comes in many different forms—and that God is the greatest artist of all.
My Review:

Children with a grade reading level of 2-4 will find plenty of laughs, action, and relatable situations in the Channing O'Banning books.

Channing O'Banning is a fourth grade student with a love of art.  She faces situations that make her stop and evaluate her thoughts and conduct.  In Channing O'Banning and the Rainforest Rescue, Channing gets irked by her best friend who falls for the new cute boy, Marco.  To make matters worse, Channing thinks Marco is a know-it-all.  After an adventure in a rainforest, Channing learns that she had nothing to be jealous of and also learns may educational facts about the rainforest.  In Channing O'Banning and the Turquoise Trail, Channing and a couple of her friends learn on the subjects of Native Americans, dinosaurs, and rocks while they are in school.  The way that the story is written, there are a lot of educational facts that bookworms will learn while also reading about the adventures of Channing and her friends.  Channing also gets the chance to learn more about Native Americans when she attends a wedding.  It is during that time that she's able to make a connection with what she learned at school.

The Channing O'Banning books are interesting for young readers, and mixes fiction of an adventurous girl with real life facts.

Thanks so much for your great review of my Channing O'Banning Series! I hope it encourages kids to love learning through drawing, and that parents enjoy presenting their kids with a fun character who is faith-filled as well as artistic and relatable. Thank you again! Hopefully more books will be coming!
