Random Tuesday Thoughts - Books and Sprinklers

Hi, howdy, and hello!  It's another week of Random Tuesday Thoughts, hosted by Stacy Uncorked.  If you'd like to play along, you're more than welcome to join in.
Later on today I'll be heading to the ear doctor to get a plan in gear to improve my hearing.  My left ear still has an ear tube in it from over 15 years ago.  It's impeded in there with lots of scar tissue.  Go me!
In the latest news about my mom, she may be better off than what we were originally told.  Now doctors don't think it's cancer that's spread to her spine, but rather that her vertebrate have two fractures.  They are recommending surgery.  I haven't given the go-ahead on it yet because I have several questions and concerns.

I purchased a sprinkler for my nieces to play outdoors with the other day.  It was all fun and games until my dog made it her business to take over.  Helen has claimed it as hers.
There hasn't been one day yet this summer that we haven't had rain.  Several nearby areas are under flooding.  I'm glad that this summer isn't a scorcher but the rain can stop any time now.
I joined the Summer Reading Program at the library and picked out a few books to start with.  One book was Contaminated by Em Garner.  It's a YA book with dystopian zombie talk.  I liked it so much that I couldn't wait to check out the second book, Mercy Mode, and get started on reading it.  As luck would have it, the library doesn't carry the second book in the series.  I don't know that I've ever been that disappointed about not being able to get my hands on a book.  As it is, I'll probably be spending some money on Amazon for it.
Uncommon '15 Men's Conference
My husband and two teen boys attended a Men's Conference at the church a couple weeks ago.  Almost 600 men were in attendance.  Seeing how much the conference impacted them really made me happy.  The church soccer field was overrun with tents, grills, fire pits, and games.
What kind of randomness do you got going on?

I've so had that happen with books at the library :)

What a great experience for your husband and sons! I hope that my own can do that some day.
My kids love the sprinkler. in fact, they will just take the plain ole hose.. every time I am watering my garden, they are come running wanting to be sprayed. and it has to be freezing cold too.
but I haven't needed it a lot lately, because yeah; that rain thing.
go away already!!

Good luck with your ear situation - here's hoping that gets taken care of with minimal pain!

Yay about your mom not having cancer, but holy moly! Fractured vertebrates? Your poor mom! Hopefully she gets all taken care of with minimal pain, too!

Your sprinkler dog had me giggling - now I want to see if I can annoy my puppies with our sprinkler. They're kind of wusses when it's raining, so the sprinkler might be comical. ;)

Very cool your hubby and teen boys were impacted by the Men's Conference at your church - I'm hoping the hubby and Little Dude will bond with one of those at our church, too. :)

Have a great weekend and Happy 4th of July! :)

OooOOoo, thanks for the book recommendation--sounds like a good one. Putting it on hold at my library right now!
I hope your mom and your ear get some surely much-needed relief soon.
I used to have a cat that would play in the sprinkler like your dog. He was normally an indoor cat, because he was deaf, but he ran away once and we found him one street over obsessively attacking a neighbor's sprinkler. Looked like he was playing a harp REALLY FAST. Ha!

Good luck with your ears. I'm so happy to hear your mom doesn't have cancer. Definitely do research as far as back surgery goes.
I'd love to go to a men's conference because I think that would be the perfect place to find a good Christian man. It's ok if you laugh, lol!

Just finished Contaminated--can't wait to read Mercy Mode! The scary thing is that the first book is so believable--I can imagine something happening like that in real life and that is frightening! Did you ever get your hands on book 2? I'm interested in knowing if there will be more books. Sometimes I just want to know how it all ENDS, without reading a 10 book series :)
