About the book:

Hardcover; 240 pages

Publisher: Harper Collins Christian Publishing (October 27, 2015)

In her new book STRONG and KIND: And Other Important Character Traits Your Child Needs to Succeed, Korie Robertson - New York Times bestselling author, wife of Duck Commander® CEO Willie Robertson, star of A&E's Duck Dynasty, and mother of five - argues that developing good character in our children is the single most important thing we can do to help ensure they lead happy, healthy adult lives. Robertson explores key traits and what they truly look like in action, asks readers to select the two traits that they hope to see most in their children, and shares hands-on ways for nurturing strength of character. Written with her mother Chrys Howard and featuring stories and wisdom from husband Willie, STRONG and KIND cuts through the contemporary cacophony of parenting manuals to rediscover, unfold, and embrace the enduring wisdom that has guided the best parents for centuries.

My Review:

You'd be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't know the Duck Dynasty celebrities.  They're famous for the family-themed television show about duck calls, country living, and Christian beliefs.  Although I'm not a devoted fan of Duck Dynasty, I've watched their shows from time to time and admire that they stand firm in their loyalties.

One of the newest books from the Duck Dynasty cast is STRONG and KIND: And Other Important Character Traits Your Child Needs to Succeed.  Now, I'll be honest with you, most books with titles like this usually deter me from reading them.  As much as I like good advice, I don't enjoy reading books on how to raise my kids or work any other area of my life if it's riddled with scientific jargon and preaches in a pretentious manner.  Thankfully, STRONG and KIND doesn't play like that.

What I love about STRONG and KIND is that it's relatable.  The challenges and tips are things I can actually work into my life.  There are three main sections to the book that are broken down into chapters.  Part one talks about the importance of good character and part two discusses identifying character traits you want to see in your children.  The third part goes into how to parent kids of character.  Although my kids are now in their tweens and above, I was able to grasp some areas that I could work on to better raise them to be wonderful citizens in life and strong in their faith to God.  I also took note of a lot of the lessons in the book to apply to my own personal life.

If you are not familiar with the Duck Dynasty cast, you may not associate with the personal stories that involve the famous family because the tales are told from the family's experiences.  Despite that, STRONG and KIND is a wonderful resource to read and apply to raising your children into successful adults.

I do watch Duck Dynasty. Its one of my fave shows. Uncle Si is a little nuts but oh so funny! I love what this family stands for. The Christian values and morals they teach their kids is amazing. What you see on the show is real. Miss Kay & Phil Robertson are wonderful people. I admire Korie, she is such a great woman doing good things to help people. Id love to read this book. Thank you for the chance :)

We watch Duck Dynasty every season! It is one of the few shows on TV that we can all watch together. We love it! We've even been to West Monroe, LA to their Duck Commander headquarters and ate at Willie's Diner too.

I have never watched because we do not have tv, but from what I have heard of the show & family I would be interested in reading more about them. We actually own a Duck Dynasty children's bow.

Yes we do watch Duck Dynasty. I love that it's the type of show that we can all watch together without worrying about the kids seeing or hearing something inappropriate.
