Tuesday Random Thoughts - Surgery and Coloring Pages

Whoop whoop, it's Random Tuesday Thoughts day!  If you're as excited about it as I am, link up at Stacy Uncorked.
Well, my ear surgery has come and gone.  Had it done on Wednesday.  The actual procedure went well.  Not sure yet if my hearing is any better or not.  One day it feels like my ear is stuffed with a cotton ball.  The next day I'm almost in tears from too loud noises.  Fat was taken from the back of my earlobe and patched on my eardrum.  I've already jacked that all up.  I managed to tear apart some of the taping while asleep and bled out for a while.  Fun times!
And because I didn't have enough of the hospital, I had to take my mom in to the ER Wednesday night.  I was hoping against all hope that I wasn't going to have to.  Mainly because I was being self-centered and wanted to rest from the surgery.  But, she started having conversations with cardboard boxes.  That was enough to convince me.

As it is, she's got a plethora of problems.  She's been diagnosed with Urinary Tract Infection, pneumonia, low potassium, and infection in her blood.  So, she's been spending her last few days in the hospital.
TMNT Cake - Happy birthday Gia and Grandma
Before mom decided to make her hospital stay, my brother had a joint birthday party planned for his daughter and my mom.  The party went on, just not as planned.  Mom turned 67 years old yesterday.  I took flowers and balloons up to the hospital.  I'm not sure what it is about her being in there during big events and holidays.  Eh!
Logan on the far left
Enough of all the "sick" talk.  On the bright side, Logan made it back from State.  The boy's Cross Country team placed 13th overall and the girl's team placed 4th.  Not bad, not bad.
Girl's shoebox
I got two shoeboxes packed for Operation Christmas Child.  Made one for a boy and one for a girl.  This is my third year participating.  For those not in the know, it's a program that sends shoeboxes around the world for children to receive gifts during Christmas time.  It's one charitable organization that I absolutely believe in.
framed coloring page with flower embellishment
Adult coloring books are all the rage right now.  I must admit, it keeps me Zen.  I've colored a couple of pages and framed them to give as gifts.  I'm not creative by any stretch of the imagination, and I think that's why I enjoy coloring so much.  I've just gotta stay within the lines.

Logan and Traci coloring during the birthday party
My sister is also very much into the hobby.  She's got more books and markers than I can count.  My son even got in on the action Sunday evening.  Maybe it'll be a new family thing to do together.
I think that's all the randomness I've got for now.  Tell me, what's your randomness for the week?

Prayer for you and your Mom. I hope you are both better soon.

I have been really interested in those coloring books so I might have to go get one :)

I hope you and your mom feel (and hear) better soon!

I am more like my 3 year old than a normal adult when it comes to coloring--I don't have the patience to stay in the lines (or the ability to concentrate that long. Those adult coloring pages can be SUPER detailed!) When my dad was housebound before he died, he loved coloring Hot Wheels pages. My girls inherited TONS of crayons and coloring books from him :)

My mom had hallucinations when she had low potassium. It's so hard to watch our moms have health problems. But, speaking of coloring. I love to color! One of my step daughters does, too. And now they make coloring books for grownups!

Operation Shoebox has to got to be my favourite charity. I love that my kids can come to the store and help me pick out things to go in their boxes - with 3 kids we do 3 boxes each year. They really enjoy doing them and that makes me very happy to see them being cheerful givers.

I love this idea of colouring to relax! I still sit with my girls when they colour in their books. I didn't know I had options beside Disney Princess and Scooby Doo!! LOL
