Random Tuesday Thoughts - Christmas Trees and Thanksgiving

It's another weekly edition of Random Tuesday Thoughts.  If you'd like to add your randomness, link up at Stacy Uncorked.

Thanksgiving decoration made with gumballs and Sixlets

Thanksgiving went well this year.  Not that it doesn't any other time.  But there were no squabbles and the kids didn't completely destroy the place.  I had about 25 people in my home.  It was almost assholes to elbows, but we made do.

Jason carving a turkey

My husband made two turkeys for the day, one in the oven and one on the smoker.  Other menu offerings included pecan pie, pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, cupcakes, and several casseroles.  I committed gluttony.

There was also a Gender Reveal on Thanksgiving.  My niece and her man are having a baby in April.  They already have two daughters, and boys are very outnumbered by girls in the family.  So we were super stoked when we found out she's having a boy!

Baby boy's name will be Harley Leroy Dean.  Harley is after my father and Leroy is after my grandpa, so I'm elated over what they have chosen as the name.

Logan coloring me a page of an angel

After the festivities died down, some of us spent a few hours coloring.  It's so calming, and it gave us much time to talk and laugh.

Logan and Helen

Me and Adam got up early Black Friday for some shopping.  I didn't realize that most stores already had their sales on Thanksgiving day.  Wow, it gets moved up earlier and earlier every year!  I scored some deals at Menard's, with one of them being a sweater for Helen.  Hubby wasn't too pleased that I dressed the dog, but Helen hasn't complained.
Logan and Adam helping Helen with her paw print ornament

Helen also got a kit for a Paw Print Ornament.  We stuck her paw in clay for an imprint, then personalized it with her name.  Helen's 2nd birthday was November 29th.  I'm thinking she probably wishes she didn't turn two!

Adam decorating the tree

Saturday Jason put up the tree while I was away.  Good thing because I wasn't much in the mood to do it.  I'm just not ready for Christmas.  It came upon us too fast.  Once the thing was up, I put on my fake joy face and got to decorating with the boys.

Our tree is not fancy by any means but it holds a lot of memories.  It's full of ornaments that span throughout the years.  Some are from when I was a wee one.  Some were made by my mom years ago.  And some have the kids' school pics on them.

When I told Logan to get out the tree skirt, he took the term to a whole new level.  That kid's not right, I tell ya!
------------------------
Logan ran the annual Turkey Run for the YMCA on Thanksgiving.  Out of a couple hundred runners, he placed 10th overall.
-----------------------------
Mom is finally out of the hospital.  She was in there for almost three weeks this time around.  She's been temporarily placed in a nursing home, until her mobility becomes better.  I was worried sick that she wouldn't adjust or the place wouldn't take care of her but, so far, things seem to be going well.

Guess I had a lot to say this week!  How was your Thanksgiving?  Is your Christmas tree up?  Score any Black Friday deals?  What's your randomness?

That does look like a fun Thanksgiving. I'm so glad we don't have any sick kids yet. I'm keeping my figures crossed that it stays that way through Christmas.

Logan looks fab in the tree skirt. Glad your mom is out of the hospital and hopefully on the mend. Love your tree! Mine will probably go up on Saturday. I just don't have the energy, and I agree, they keep pushing black Friday up. It started at 3 PM here on Thanksgiving. I like Helen's sweater.

I decorated my house today, and December 2nd feels okay -- but I don't want to be rushed into the season either. I won't get our tree for another week because we get a real one and will dry out too soon. But ours is rather homey and homely too. LOL
It has such a mash of ornaments from my own childhood, ones my kids made, super heroes, baby Jesus, and of course a hidden pickle my mom insists on. ha. I say those are the best kinds of trees that truly capture the spirit of Christmas.

Thanksgiving/My Birthday was fun.We all go to my sister & brother in laws house because theirs is the biggest.A turkey was smoked and ham in the oven with all the trimmings.
I put my cute 4 ft fake prelit white tree up before Thanksgiving.I lost someone dear to me and I needed something to cheer me up.My 7 yr old niece decorated it by herself and did an amazing job.Im not ready for Christmas because it seems to get here faster every yr.I love celebrating the birth of Christ though. Its my fave holiday. Not to much randomness this wk. I love to color! I do it daily before I enter giveaways.
