Mammals: A Compare and Contrast Book - Review and Giveaway

I received book for review from Arbordale Publishing.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.

All mammals share certain characteristics that set them apart from animal classes. But some mammals live on land and other mammals spend their lives in water—each is adapted to its environment. Land mammals breathe oxygen through nostrils but some marine mammals breathe through blowholes. Compare and contrast mammals that live on land to those that live in the water.

My Review:

With realistic photographed pictures, Mammals: A Compare and Contrast Book does a fine job of explaining the similarities and differences between mammals.  Some animals shown include manatees, horses, and grizzly bears.  There's even pictures of kids, showing that humans are mammals too.  Children will learn interesting facts about mammals.  For instance, all mammals have lungs and breathe oxygen from the air, but some live in rivers and oceans.

The 'For Creative Minds' section in the back of the book keeps kids learning more.  There's a Dichotomous Key which helps to classify animals.  Once kids have studied the Dichotomous Key, there's a 'Mammal Or Not' lesson that has children deciding which pictures shown are mammals or other species.  There's also a reading lesson on how some mammals are different and what signs to look for when tracking mammals.

Mammals: A Compare and Contrast Book is a Spring 2016 release by Arbordale Publishing.

I absolutely adore hedgehogs! I also think they make great first pets for little ones. They don't hurt to handle but kids do have to learn to be gentle.
