My Favorite Bible Verse

I am ill-versed in the Bible.  There's very few scripture that I know from heart.  It's not because I don't care or don't want to know them; I just can't seem to retain the words in memory.

There's one verse, though, that I learned as a tween and have held near and dear to my heart.  It's Hebrews 13:6

Hebrews 13:6New International Version (NIV)
So we say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?”[

This particular passage was taught to me as a memorization verse in Vacation Bible School.  I burned it in to my memory and have used it several times.  More often than not it's when I have fear or am scared.

I remember one particular instance where this verse helped calm and relax me.  I was due to have my second child and was terrified of the epidural.  While the nurse was sticking the needle in my spine, I repeated this verse over and over until the fear subsided.

I know that the Lord has it all under His control, and he's with me through all circumstances.  Even the ones where I feel overwhelmed or afraid.

What is your favorite Bible verse?

The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid is definitely a comforting verse. We all need to repeat this at times.
