Other than the obvious that it's the 4th of July (Independence Day), it's also National Country Music Day. Please don't throw stones, but country music really isn't my thing. I'm more into alternative rock and contemporary Christian tunes.
If I had to listen to Country Music, I'm more about the older styles. I'm talkin' Kenny Rogers, Reba McEntire, Alabama, and George Strait. I could listen to Johnny Cash all night long. (My husband, on the other hand, would rather eat a barrel of slugs than listen to Johnny.)
I grew up with a step-father who played bass guitar in a country band. That was back in the day, so I was always around the old country sounds. I attended his shows on several occasions and always had a good time. I think that's why the older country croons are what I'm in tune to.
What's your favorite genre of music? Have a favorite country singer?
