It's National Strawberry Sundae Day!

Although I don't order or eat strawberry sundaes myself, I have fond memories of the ice cream dessert.

My mother's favorite restaurant was Dairy Queen and we often visited there during the last couple years she lived with me.  And, almost every single time, she would order a strawberry sundae.  We'd sit at the booth, sometimes with my teen boys in tow, and talk about what was going on in our lives or about how our day was going.  There were even times, on her ill days or hospital stays, that mom would have me go on a DQ run and bring her back a strawberry sundae.  Ahhh, the memories that an ice cream treat brings!

What a lovely memory to have of your mom. It's sweet memories like those that help you live without them until you're able to meet again. I honestly had no idea that it was national strawberry sundae day!

Ice cream is such comfort "food". I like how close you and your mom are.

What a great story about your mom. My dad used to take me to Dairy Queen when I was a little girl for hot fudge sundaes or chocolate dipped cones.I love sweet memories like that :)

I like most any kind of sundae. :) I bet you're right about ice cream conjuring up memories. I thought of several in just a few seconds when I tried. :)

I think I've mentioned it before on your blog, how my dad asked my sister and me to bring him McFlurries from McDonalds in the last weeks of his life. I hate McDonalds food but I can't pass that restaurant without smiling and thinking of him. I will probably ask my kids for a hot fudge sundae from DQ :)
