My Life Lately - Concerts and Funerals

As per the usual, I've been keeping busy.  This has been my life lately:
brownies covered in blue Sixlets

Went to a friend's house last Saturday and hung out.  Everyone pitched in for a Nachos and Taco Bar, and I made up some brownies.  We hung outside and chit-chatted the night away.

I no sooner than got home from the get-together when a friend/co-worker called wanting to hang out.  She stopped by with McDonald's breakfast and we hung out until wee hours of the morning gabbing and being silly.

Me and Shelby on way to concert

I got to cross off a "must-do" from my bucket list.  Tuesday I went with my husband, daughter, and son to a Rob Zombie concert in St. Louis.  He did not disappoint.  It was freakin' awesome!  The only downfall is that we didn't have very close seats.  I could see, but still had to strain.  I totally wanna go again.  But next time, sit closer.

I also heard In This Moment for the first time.  It's a band I'd never heard before.  The female singer knows how to rock, and the stage theatrics were mind blowing.  We got no pics because we weren't close enough to make it matter.

I won't go into the whole long story but we are ding-dongs and totally missed Korn playing.  We left before they even came on stage.  Ah, well.

Shelby in the hotel room

We spent Tuesday night at Comfort Inn -Westport in St. Louis.  It was a nice enough place to stay.  Not great, but not bad.

Shelby with her aunt Jeanne and grandma Rosetta in one of their last photos together

Before we headed up to the concert on Tuesday, my kids got word that their grandma on their dad's side had passed away.  She had been in the hospital for a few days and it was pretty expected.  But it was still hard news to take.

Not that any time is a good time, but it was especially hard on my kids because they just lost their other grandma (my mom) four months earlier.  That was still quite new and fresh to them.

After making sure it was okay with my ex, I went to Rosetta's graveside service.  After all, she had been my mother-in-law for several years.  Logan and Adam were both pallbearers, just as they were for my mom's funeral.  I think we've had our fair share of deaths this year.  No more, thankyouverymuch.

Jason, the Mexican superstar

Saturday night we ended up going to Hannibal with a group of friends.  They had rented a hotel room, and we went there to hang for a couple hours.  Jason was on a roll and reverted to schoolboy antics.  We ate at a Mexican restaurant, and I'm sure they were glad to see us leave.  Boys will be boys!

Sunday we traveled to my uncle's house to visit with him.  My other uncle showed up and played the modified Banjo.  He has amazing musical talent and I could listen to him play for hours.

What have you been up to lately?
Ready for the school year to start or bummed out about it?
