Random Tuesday Thoughts - Halloween

It's Tuesday, and that means Random Tuesday Thoughts with Stacy Uncorked!  Most of my randomness revolves around Halloween.  #ItIsWhatItIs

In all actuality, I'm kinda sad to see Halloween go.  It's my favorite holiday of the year.  I'm okay with Thanksgiving and Christmas, but they don't hold a candle over Halloween.
----------------------
some of the Halloween candy I passed out

This was my first year handing out candy to trick-or-treaters at our new residence.  Last year we were lucky to get a total of ten kids.  This year was a whole 'nother story!  We surpassed 200 trick-or-treaters.  I would've swore that I had enough candy to begin with.  I started running out and took my teen son on a quick hunt for more.  In the ten minutes he was gone I was handing out bottled water and packaged muffins from my kitchen stash.  Desperate times were calling for desperate measures.  Finally he came back with three more bags and we were good to go again.
---------------------
Is he real...or is he not?!

Very last minute, Jason decided he wanted in on the Halloween festivities.  He grabbed some garb we had around the house, then sat outside in a chair while kids came by to trick-or-treat.  He sat super still and, once the kids were upon him, he scared the bejeebers out of them.  I'm not responsible for any nightmares he may have caused.

Ayala the spider, Giana the porcupine, and Imani the bat

A handful of my nieces and nephews also stopped by.  My favorite costumes of the night were handmade for my nieces by their mother.  That girl is super crafty.

hanging out in line for the haunted house with Adam, Liz, and Becky

Adam and I had made plans for the longest time to go to Six Flags Fright Fest on Friday.  Turned out, it wouldn't work out.  So I ended up going with him and some friends to a couple local haunted houses.  I gotta tell you, they totally beat out the expensive ones I paid to see in St. Louis last year.  These locals know how to up the scare factor!
-----------------------
Tomorrow would have been my dad's 84th birthday.  It's hard for me to wrap my head around that!  He and my mother were 16 years apart but he passed away eleven years ago.  In exactly one week from his birthday, my mom will have been celebrating her 68th.  I'm sure they'll both be partying it up in Heaven.
--------------------------------

Me and Becky as bloody nurses

I co-hosted our Annual Pumpkin Party on Saturday with my friend and co-worker, Becky.  The weather was nice and everything seemed to go smoothly.  Kids came and decorated pumpkins and went through a haunted shed.  Later, the adults got together for some "beverages".

I used that cheap-o spray-on hair colorant to make my hair bright red.  It didn't do a darn thing, except make my hair feel and look like a rat's nest had taken residence.  It was a mess to wash out.  Would've been worth it if it would have actually turned my hair red.  #LessonLearned
------------------------

Whitney, Logan, myself and Becky

I met my son, Logan's, girlfriend for the first time at the party.  She was all nervous and stuff.  I mean, who would be nervous around a bunch of adults grilling them?!  She's actually a very sweet girl and this mother approves.

What's your randomness for the week?
Did you do anything for Halloween?

I think your son's girfriend was nervous over the knife... that's a heck of a way to greet a gal, hahahahaa

Glad you had a happy Halloween!

Wow you had a lot of trick or treaters, I had about 10. I love how your son got into it and sat in that chair, I bet he scared and made some kids laugh.

I am also so sad Halloween is over. I am taking my sweet time taking down the decorations. I just don't want to see it all packed up just yet.

You all look so great in your costumes. We had a TON of trick or treaters too. Normally we only have 15, so I bought full sized candy bars. By the end of the night, I had already emptied 2 30 count boxes and had to start passing out the mini candy bars I bought as backup!

We had in the hundreds of treaters too - we live in a very popular neighborhood and people drive their cars here and walk around with their kids!! So we always have a TON of candy. I think we had 3 mini chocolate bars left out of several 100 count boxes, not to mention bags of suckers, licorice and Rockets (my fave!). We had a nice party here and I was glad to see my friends dress up too - it's so boring when you're the only one. And I used hair chalk on my own head and it worked awesome for colour -- and washed out easily. But it also left a fine blue coat of dust on everything I touched, but I guess you are supposed to hair spray after you apply and I didn't.
