Green Toys, a company known to use 100% recycled materials and US-based manufacturing, is serious about being eco-friendly and safe. Green Toys has expanded into the book category for the first time with the launch of three new hardcover storybooks penned by co-founder, Robert von Goeben. The series of three 32-page hardcover storybooks build out the Green Toys world by establishing narratives around the popular Green Toys Construction Trucks, Sport Boats, and Train, so kids will see their favorite characters embark on exciting adventures throughout the pages and can re-create the story with their toys. The books are printed in the USA on 100% post-consumer recycled paper with soy inks. The three books in the line-up are Train off the Rails, Boats Built for Speed, and Mixed-Up Trucks.
Of the three, I received Train off the Rails. It tells of two bears, Kody and Dot, who are delivery bears for a train. It's the same routine for them day after day. On one particular day, the train jumps off the tracks and the bears take the opportunity to wander off the tracks on their own. They come across other methods of transportation and take notice of boxes that had earlier been on the train. Kody and Dot come to realize that their job is important.
The book is told in rhythmic form and the illustrations are cutesy and colorful. Train off the Rails can be purchased by itself at Green Toys, or as a gift set that includes a toy train.
One person will win a hardcover book copy of Train off the Rails.
