J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World: A Pop-up Gallery of Curiosities - Review

I received book for review from Candlewick Press.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.

I can almost bet that you know at least one person who is a big Harry Potter fan.  If you are looking to gift your devotee with Harry Potter themed products, let me suggest J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World: A Pop-up Gallery of Curiosities.  It is part book and part display.

This pop-up book showcases three-dimensional renderings from the Harry Potter films, including two pops related to the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film.  Along with the 3D pop-ups are pull-out flaps with text that explains what's being shown and how particular things were achieved in the films.

There are five scenes depicted throughout the pop-up gallery, with two being the Sorting Hat and the Whomping Willow.

The quality of the book is fantastic and the images are stunning.  The front doesn't open like a traditional book; Rather, the illustration is of doors and you open it up as such.  The cover (doors) stay shut with a magnetic closure.  Once you've looked through the book and read all about the scenes, you can pick your favorite one and stand it on display by using the silver elastic loops to keep it in place.

In the famous words of Dumbledore, “Curiosity is not a sin…but we should exercise caution with our curiosity.”
