Wordful Wednesday - First 2017 Six Flags Visit

Me and Adam were Six Flags Gold Level Season Pass holders last year and chose to do the same for this season.  We made our first visit last Saturday.  I prefer to go during off-peak dates because it's not hotter than the seventh level of Hell and ride waits aren't as long.

The Looney Tunes characters were out in full force.  We also watched a show from Miss Kitty's Saloon, The Red Garter Revue.

We ate funnel cakes from the 1904 World's Fair.  I went with light powdered sugar.  Adam chose the sugar coma and went with a funnel cake doused in powdered sugar, whipped cream, Oreo cookies, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate syrup.
American Thunder

I am a ride enthusiast and haven't found a ride I didn't like.  Until...I rode the Fireball.  Never, ever again!  It opened up last year but I didn't ride.  Wish I hadn't done it this year.  It takes you upside down and gives you the feeling of being out of your seat.  I couldn't get off of it soon enough.
Do you visit Six Flags?  What's your favorite thing to do there?

Colortime Crafts and Markers - Review and Giveaway

I received product for review from Colortime Crafts and Markers.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.

Keeping kids entertained now that school's out can be a daunting task.  If you're reaching for ideas, consider Colortime Crafts and Markers.  The company has easy craft ideas for kids, including t-shirts, pillowcases, backpacks, tote bags, and more that children will love to color and decorate.  They have keepsake craft products specific to boys and girls, as well as religious, holiday, and even dog wear items.  They're also a great company to consider if you're planning for a birthday, scouting, or other event.
I received the Love Backpack for review and, well, love it.  The drawstring backpack is decorated with a cute image that can be colored.  Colortime Crafts and Markers has their own line of permanent fabric markers that are non-toxic.  I got three markers - red, yellow, and blue - to color in the image of my backpack.

I was pleasantly surprised with how well the markers worked.  I had no trouble coloring in the "Love" design.  I've used some fabric markers before that weren't worth the materials they were made with.  These markers have a thick grip and the colors show up vibrantly.  I didn't have to press down hard or struggle to get the markers to fill in all the desired space.  There was no smearing or smudging when switching between the colors.  I took notice and liked that the yellow colored marker didn't blend in with the black fabric of the image design.  Yellow usually tends to do that and it looks like a smeared mess.
Jason wearing the partially colored backpack

The backpack itself is roomy and can fit a lot of contents.  It is made of good material and fits up to an average sized adult.  Although I haven't done it to mine yet, the backpacks are machine washable.
I would like to note that the fabric markers have to be purchased separately from the "color yourself" crafts.  They can be purchased individually or in sets.

It's National Brother's Day

Donnie with his wife at Jason's MDI graduation

If you have a blood brother or a brother from another mother, take time today to let them know how much they mean to you.  Carve out some time to spend together, reminisce, or irritate.

When I was six years old, I had a half-brother that committed suicide.  I'd like to say I remember him, but I don't.  I have absolutely no recollection of Rick.  But, that's not to say I don't think about him from time to time.  It'd be nice to have had that relationship.
Donnie skating in a roller derby bout

My other half-brother, Donnie, and I grew up together.  My sisters were older and out of the house so it was just me and him.  Donnie irritated me to no end, and made sure to piss me off on a daily.  But, he had my back and was fiercely protective of me.  He was mom's favorite (he'll tell you the same) and he's definitely a bird of a different feather.  Donnie doesn't have a filter and will tell you like it is. He's unconventional and does what he wants when he wants.

Donnie wasn't exactly a law-abiding citizen back in the day, but he's grown up to be a wonderful father to two children and a great husband.  He works hard for his family and is an amazing coach to the roller derby team.  He and I are two completely different people, but I'm beyond proud to call him my brother.

Donnie and my mom a few years ago.
He got a kick out of irritating her too.  And she always took it in stride.

Do you have any brothers?  What's your relationship like with him?

Freeze 24-7 Radiance Brightening Face Mask- Review

I received product for review from Freeze 24-7.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.

No, I'm not trying out for the role of Ed Gein in a movie (Texas Chainsaw Massacre reference).  I'm actually wearing the Radiance Brightening Face Mask from Freeze 24-7.  Developed by top dermatologists, the face mask is formulated to help skin regain luminosity and restore vitality.  It's also made to brighten and even skin tone.  It is recommended to apply a face mask 2-3 times a week, and there are eight gel masks to each box.

To be honest, application is a little messy.   You are to remove a mask from the packaging and unfold.  Then you are to peel off the protective paper from one side of the mask, apply the mask to a clean and dry face, then remove the protective film from the outside of the mask.  Doing this, you will more than likely get gel on your fingers and who knows where else.  You'll want to make sure the mask is adhered to the curves around the eyes, nose, and mouth.

Once the gel mask is in place on your face, you're to leave it on for 20-25 minutes.  I'm not gonna lie, I had a great time getting reactions out of my hubby and kids when they saw me with the mask on.  I was compared to some great horror legends.

Having the gel mask on for so long doesn't bother me.  I am still able to see and breathe.  Once in a while, I have to press down on the sides to get the mask to adhere to my face again.  After the recommended time is up, the mask can be taken off and discarded.  There's no need to rinse any excess serum.  You just have to pat your face until the remaining serum is fully absorbed, and apply excess serum to neck and chest.

As for how they work, I haven't turned into Pamela Anderson but I love how my skin feels after using a mask.  My face feels refreshed and even looks more alive.  It is smoother to the touch, and seems more vibrant.  So, I'll take looking like I do while wearing the mask to get the results it gives.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights Sweatshirt Throw - Review

I received product for review.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.

No complaints here, but life has been busy.  And it's about to get busier.  To start, I have two boys graduating high school and a husband to celebrate Father's Day with.  Party planning and purchasing gifts are on the agenda.  If you're in the same boat, you might want to consider The Northwest.  The company is the number one throw manufacturer in the United States and offers a variety of innovative and exciting sports-themed products.  You will find an extensive list of items for several universities and colleges.
Our household is split on sports.  Some of us watch or participate, while the others could care less.  Logan is the one who knows a lot about college sports, and he was thrilled when I received the Rutgers Scarlet Knights Sweatshirt Throw.  Rutgers is the state university of New Jersey.  Although Logan liked the throw mainly because it's branded with a sports team logo, I like it more for the comfort and way its' made.  Apparently, so does everyone else in the house because we all fight for it.
This Sweatshirt Throw is made of material to mimic a sweatshirt.  It is lightweight, so it's perfect for breezy or chilly nights.  I was impressed with how long and wide the throw is.  It measures 54" x 84", making it big enough to easily wrap around myself or throw around a shoulder and share with someone.  This throw is super comfortable and feels like you've got a sweatshirt on.

If sports aren't your the theme you're looking for, The Northwest also sells other licensed products.  For instance, they have throws featuring Dr. Seuss, Pokemon, Gas Monkey Garage, and others.
Bean bags and wristlets are also products offered by the company.

Stinger 3-in-1 Insect Zapper - Review

I received product for review.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.

Did  you know that May is National Barbecue Month?  Well, you do now!

We love to barbecue, and my husband will do it all year round.  But, there's almost nothing worse than swatting at pesky bugs when you're trying to eat or entertain outdoors.  With the Stinger 3-in-1 Insect Zapper, you can keep the pests away without the stick and stink of bug spray.

From small patios to entire backyards, the 3-in-1 Insect Zapper provides whole yard coverage and uses black UV light technology to kill up to 40% more mosquitoes and flying insects.  It's made from weather-proof plastic and is equipped with a sundown sensor option for energy efficient operation that automatically turns on at dusk and off at dawn.  No assembly is required.

This bug zapper has three operating modes.  One is the 24 Hour Mode that keeps the zapper on 24 hours a day.  The Dawn to Dusk mode turns the unit on automatically at dusk and turns it off in the morning.  The Mosquito Kill Mode activates interval light cycling.  In other words, it changes the light patterns at different intervals to attract biting insects in close proximity.

A NOsquito octenol lure by Stinger is included with the unit.  The lure has slow release properties and increases the effectiveness of attacting insects to the unit.  The lure needs to be replaced every 30 days.  The lure is an optional piece and is not necessary for the zapper to operate.  It enhances the unit.

It is best to plug the Insect Zapper into an extension cord outside, about 25' from human activity.  Ours is hanging from a shepherd's hook in the back yard.  There will be some continuous humming from the unit, and that is completely normal.  The outer enclosure is made in a way that little hands and pets won't get their fingers or paws zapped.
I have to admit, I'm fascinated by the 3-in-1 Insect Zapper both for its benefits and for its entertainment value.  It emits a pretty light at night and you can hear when the bugs are being zapped.  Yes, I'm one of those who gets a kick out of hearing the insects meet their demise.

So far, the weather hasn't caused much of an influx of insects.  But the Stinger 3-in-1 Insect Zapper has proven effective in getting rid of the majority of bugs that are in the area so far.  I will continue to use this zapper throughout the summer and fall seasons, especially when the mosquitoes start making themselves known.

Don't let your barbecue or summer activities get ruined by pesky bugs.  Take care of the problem with the Stinger 3-in-1 Insect Zapper.

Free Summer Reading Program from Arbordale Publishing

I received no product or compensation for this post.  This post is in partnership with PR firm.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.
Warmer weather and longer days say summer is near, and this year Arbordale introduces Summer Reading Around the World. This free program includes 25 interactive ebooks, a passport to reading, and the opportunity to earn hardcover books.

To prevent the summer slide, and give young readers the opportunity to learn about environments and habitats around the world, Arbordale has selected books that feature animals and places near and far. Learning about science and math is fun through stories, and Arbordale’s signature “For Creative Minds” section extends the themes within the story.

A downloadable passport magnifies the fun, and voracious readers are able to return their passport for their very own book and reading certificate. Additionally, educators and librarians can earn up to 25 free books and online access to the entire library on Arbordale’s Fun eReader® by sending in groups of passports.

The Fun eReader platform allows for easy access, and families on the go are able to download the books onto tablets via the Fun eReader app. Each interactive ebook includes English & Spanish text and audio with speed control, word highlighting, and some now have tappable animal sounds.

Perfect for a rainy day or community programs, Arbordale has included special bingo cards, crafts, and activities for download. New activities will be added throughout the summer via the publisher’s social media channels @ArbordaleKids.

Get Your Smile Summer Ready With Mouth Watchers® - Review

I received products for review from Mouth Watchers.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.
I'm sure we're all aware that oral hygiene is important.  And, just because we travel somewhere this summer, it doesn't give us permission to neglect our teeth.  Don't be that guy!

When you're on your summer adventures, consider taking the Mouth Watchers Travel Toothbrush along with you.  It is available in two colors - blue and red.

Mouth Watchers, the company, is known for their Antimicrobial Technology that's infused into the bristles, eliminating bacteria growth and leaving your brush clean for every use.  The unique dual flossing bristle system reaches down into to hard to reach areas, where cavities form, and sweeps out cavity and gingivitis forming debris.

The Mouth Watchers Travel Toothbrushes have the same features as the manual toothbrushes, but they are available in a travel size/foldable version.  This toothbrush eliminates 99.9% of bacteria that builds up on bristles in 6 hours due to the company's silver bristle technology.

I've been brushing with the blue Mouth Watchers travel toothbrush and like how it reaches most all areas of my teeth.  My teeth look and feel clean.  I really like how all I have to do is push the top part of the toothbrush down into the blue casing and my toothbrush is protected from icky stuff.  It's convenient to carry with me on my travels.  I will be using the red Mouth Watchers Travel Toothbrush when I go on the mission trip to Ecuador in September.  It won't take up much room and I don't have to worry about the bristles coming in contact with other stuff.

Random Tuesday Thoughts - Cats and Mission Trips

I love linking up with Stacy Uncorked to do Random Tuesday Thoughts.  If you want to post your randonmess, check out her site and link along.
Mother's Day was very minimalist around here.  Logan bought me a small cactus.  Surely I can't kill that, can I?!  Adam is going to build me a pallet couch within the next couple of weeks.  Shelby and I are in the plans to get matching tattoos.  Jason offered to take me out to eat or cook what I wanted.  I was craving a cheeseburger with egg on top, and he made one up for me.

Jason got this motorcycle under the guise that it was my Mother's Day gift.  I wasn't born yesterday, boy!

That's okay.  I got a cat from a friend under the guise that it was his graduation gift.  Guess that makes us both even.
My bestie is moving and can't take her whole menagerie of animals with her.  Out of the umpteen animals she owns, I agreed to take Trader Jimmy.  He's a male cat a little less than a year old.  Which surprises me because I would've swore he was much older.

Helen (the dog) could've cared less from the get go.  As long as she gets attention, she doesn't care who or what is in the house.  Misty (my cat) was pissed and hissed.  She went on a hunger strike for a couple of days and was none too happy.

Now, though, all seems well and they all three are gonna live happily ever after.  At least, that's my hope.
Trader Jimmy likes selfies.
I got a couple of big things checked off my list for the upcoming mission trip to Ecuador.  I went to the doctor and got the required Hep A and Typhoid shots.  I also turned in the application for a Passport book.  Jason can't get his done until he gets a certified birth certificate back from the county he was born in.
I went with some friends to watch The Case for Christ in theater a couple weeks ago.  I already have the faith so it didn't sway me any differently, but I thought it was interesting for a debate.  It's based upon a true story about an atheist who set out to prove that Christ isn't real.  After some digging, he determined that it takes a bigger leap of faith to be an atheist than a Christian, and he converted.  Pretty interesting movie.
May 10th was my 8-year Blogiversary!  Wow, hard to believe I've been in it this long.  Thanks to all readers, old and new, who are a part of my corner of the blog world.
What's your randomness for the week?

NeoCell Ceramides Skin Hydrator - Review and Giveaway

I received product for review from NeoCell.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.
As I mentioned recently, I'm not getting any younger.  I know, shocking!  I know that I'll never be back to looking like I did in my twenties, or even thirties.  But, I'm doing what I can to slow the aging process (minus surgery).  I don't believe any product can completely reverse the signs of aging but there are some out there that I've found to be beneficial in keeping the aging process from going as fast.

I've been using NeoCell's new Ceramides Skin Hydrator for the last two weeks now.  There are 60 capsules to a bottle, with a suggested dosage of two capsules a day.  In other words, you receive one month's worth of product.  The company claims that you will start to see results within 15 days.  I've started to notice subtle results and will probably purchase more Ceramides Skin  Hydrator so I can see if the results become more prominent.
I have very dry skin, especially on my nose and elbows.  It's a huge relief when I can find products that relieve those symptoms.  After taking two capsules of Ceramides Skin Hydrator each day, I can say I'm generally pleased.  I still have minor skin dryness but it doesn't seem to be as big of a problem.  I also don't see as much dullness on my face.  I don't necessarily have a glow, but the drab look isn't as noticeable.

The capsules are made with ingredients that are formulated for healthy skin hydration.  NeoCell Ceramides Skin Hydrator promotes skin hydration, elasticity, and cellular turnover.  Having skin that's hydrated is apt to give your skin a more youthful look and feel.

Win It!

One person will win a bottle of NeoCell Ceramides Skin Hydrator.

It's National Piercing Day

If you've been wanting to get a piercing done, there's no excuses.  It's National Piercing Day!

I don't have any piercings at the present time.  My body doesn't react well to it.  I used to have my nose and tongue pierced. My brother did the nose with an earring gun. There's a reason reputable people don't do that!

I miss the tongue piercing and would do it all over again, if it weren't for the fact that I wouldn't be able to talk for days. Kinda need to for my job.  I also did the whole Marilyn Monroe piercing once.  Got infected after a year.

My husband has his tongue pierced.  I'm a fan!  He used to have his nips pierced.  It's my fault he doesn't have those anymore.  My rings kept getting caught up in them and he'd had enough of that.

Do you have any piercings or are there any in particular you'd like to get?
