It's National Best Friends Day - #BestFriendsDay

I consider my family more than just that.  I consider them friends.  But, if we're not talking blood relation, I'd say my best friends are the gals in my Small Group.  We hang out often and all mesh well together.  One of those girls I see more often than the others.  We've become tight over the last two years and it's like we've known each other forever.

Alaina, my bestie, has a bright and bubbly personality.  She swears she "fakes it till she makes it" but I think she's naturally upbeat.  We can go to each other's house and not feel we have to always be entertaining one another.  In fact, not too long ago, I was at her house and she was downstairs cutting hair.  One of her clients came upstairs and was weirded out by the fact that I was asleep on her couch.
Him: Um, there's a girl upstairs sleeping on your couch.
Her:  Oh yeah, that's Terra. She must be taking a nap.
Him: Oh, ok.
Her:  That's why I like her.  She can do her own thing while I'm doing mine.
Talk with her is natural and she knows most of my secrets.  Alaina gets me for me and doesn't expect me to talk or behave a certain way.  We just click.

Sadly enough, our visits won't be so often here soon.  In less than three weeks, Alaina is moving to a new home three hours away.  I won't lie, I'm kinda sad about the situation.  It's rare that I find a true gem of a friend, and I found that in her.  We've pinky promised that we won't let distance separate us and I hope she holds on to her end of the deal as much as I plan to on my end.

Do you have a best friend?  What's he or she like?

I wrote a comment, but I don't think it went through.

I need to get together with my friends more. I'm too much of a home body. Maybe if I only worked part time, or not at all I'd get together with them more. Plus my health this year has been less than great. My best friend is actually a guy.

I love the photo with the mounted deer. (My nephew would like that on his wall.) I would say my best friend is actually my Mom, lol. Does that sound trite? well, I'm over 50 now & she lives in the same house as me, so we spend a lot of time together & she knows me better than anyone & we USUALLY don't want to throw things at each other.

Your bestie sounds like a real gem!
We have "date nights" with my bestie once a month, though now that it is summer we will see each other more with beach days and cookouts. It's a lot harder to do in the fall and winter when her kids are swimming and she's wrapped up in that most days.

Her moving a few hours away just gives you gals an excuse to road trip. ;) My bestie lives 1200 miles away, but I have another who lives right down the street. I've known her 28 years, and we just click. :)

Awwww! I knew it! You DO love me! You are someone I EXPECT to visit me, and often! I'm gonna miss you tons! We are friends for life....you know way too much! I'll have your room ready for you every weekend! At least 3 of the 4.
This is going to be the first time I've ever moved. Quincy is where I was born and raised.....& the playground is where I spent most of my days.....lol. You were all thinking it!
Seriously though, Terra 'gets' me....not too many do! OMGosh, I just realized this - What if no one understands me or "gets" me and my 'humor' there? Terra you should just move there. Ya know, to be on the safe side. Do I need to start a few small crimes there to get a 911 dispatcher opening? I love you bestie!
