A "Life Group" Wedding

As much as I am all for the fluff and frills of a big wedding, I also think that small-scaled weddings can be just as marvelous.

Two dear friends of mine were married last Friday and it was a simple, yet fun, affair.  They were engaged three weeks before the wedding.  I loved the couple's nonchalant, worry-free attitude about it all.  They wanted the day to be as stress-free as possible.

Brian and Felicia were married at his church, with about 30 people in attendance.  The bride didn't even plan on carrying a bouquet, but someone stepped in and purchased her one.

Felicia has been in our Life Group for two years.  She's become a very, very close friend of mine.  I suppose you could say I'm boasting but we often hear from other people how they want to be in a Life Group like ours.  We get together every week to study the word and go over the sermon but we also "do life" together.  We've been through the good, bad, and ugly.  I think God decided to put all the "misfit toys" in our group.

During the ceremony, the couple participated in a 'Unity of the Cords' with a cross that was made by the groom's father.  Once the wedding was over we all went to a secluded restaurant area in a local hotel and dined.  There was the choice of steak burger, grilled chicken, and sirloin steak with sides.

I'm excited to continue to do life with these newlyweds.

Are you involved in a Small Group or Life Group?
Do you have a preference of attending large or small weddings?

Congrats to the happy couple. I also like small weddings. They are just more intimate that way. I only had my mom, his mom, and my grandma at my wedding. Then again, it was a shotgun, let's do this today kind of deal so not really much time to get people together lol.
