Random Tuesday Thoughts - Flowers and A Week For Me

It's Tuesday, and we all know what that means.  It's time for another edition of Random Tuesday Thoughts, hosted by Stacy Uncorked.  Link up; We won't bite!

I've been a 9-1-1 Public Safety Telecommunicator for 13 years now.  This is the week to celebrate me, and all others in my profession, who field and dispatch calls for sheriff, fire, police, and ambulance.  It's a thankless job (aren't most!) so it's nice to be recognized one week out of the year.  Our supervisors have had Breakfast and Taco nights for us so far, and will continue to feed us the rest of the week.  I may gain a few pounds, but I'm gonna take full advantage of it!

Hanging out in my "second home" bedroom

I made my monthly 3-hour trip to Iowa last weekend.  Is it sad that their guest room is called "Terra and Jason's bedroom"?  What can I say, it's our second home.

Jason didn't get to come with, so I went at it alone.  Friday evening a bunch of girls got together for a Pure Romance party.  For those not in the know, it's an 18+ females party that sells Mild and Wild merchandise.  You learn a lot about a lot when you go to a party like that!

Saturday evening we supported the local fire department by attending a fundraiser supper.  Then we made rounds at a neighbor's and talked the night away.  Fun times!

Pure Romance: Bringing out the Mild and Wild side of you.

I'll spare you the gory pics but me and Logan took cat, Trader Jimmy, to the vet Thursday evening.  It's not Trader's regular provider because we decided to take him to a vet at 9 pm.  Only one in town was open.  It just so happened to be the most expensive one!

Trader Jimmy's had a sore on his head that busts open, then heals.  It's a cycle that's been going on for a long time.  Thursday it was so bad I thought his brains were gonna ooze out (a little dramatic, but still...).  Vet gave Trader two shots in the butt, oral meds for his ears, clipped his nails, and shaved half his head.  He's going for the lopsided Mohawk look.

Darn near thought I was gonna need a doctor of my own when I was told the amount.  We were in there for no longer than 45 minutes, and it cost $238!  I'm pretty sure I had a mild heart attack.

A former co-worker and her three little ones stopped by my house the other day.  They gifted me with a beautiful planted orchid.  Even sweeter, they had just been to my mother's grave where they laid miniature roses.
How has your week been?
Still dealing with wintry weather like we are?
Ever attend a Pure Romance party?

Thank you for what you do. You, and your colleagues, are indeed heroes.
I hear you on the vet bills. Painful often.
Love your orchids.
We are finally very almost leaving the sweaty season behind us. Autumn can't come soon enough for me.

What a week! It's so nice that you're being recognized at work. :)

Thank you so much for your hard work as a dispatcher! It has to be a wonderful, heart-rending, and frustrating job, sometimes all in the same call. You are a hero.

Vet bills can be very big, then i remember all of the training they have to pay for, all the overhead of running a big office, and their malpractice insurance (which rivals that of human doctors). There's no easy solution.

It sounds like you've had a mostly great week!

You are truly a community hero. I couldn't deal with the panicked people you deal with on a daily basis.

I love orchids. So sweet of your friends to bring you one and leave flowers on your mama's grave ♥
