My Review:

If you aren't a person who's personally been affected by domestic abuse, chances are you know someone who has been in that situation.  I have never been physically abused but my ex-husband verbally and emotionally tore me down all the time.  It took a few years to recover.

Sparks in Love: A Survivor's Story is a memoir written by Susan Sparks.  In this book, she documents the abuse she withstood at the hands of her husband.  She gives a real and raw account of why she stayed as long as she did and how she's recovered since hitting rock bottom.

There are fifteen warning signs of domestic abuse according to The National Domestic Violence Hotline.  Susan talks about the warning signs that were there during her abuse and the actions that caused the behavior.

I appreciate that Susan has written a book that reflects her personal story.  It's relatable and will hopefully spark conversation or action with someone in the same type of situation.  The only part of the book that I didn't care for was the number of times the author pointed out it was her story and she felt compelled to share it.  I'm glad she did, but reading about it several times created redundancy.
Susan is truly a survivor. and is using her circumstances to empower and educate.
