Wordful Wednesday - Canvas Painting Party

Put an apron on me and call me Picasso

Y'all, I attended my first group canvas painting party on Sunday and had a great time!  I have very limited artistic ability so I wasn't sure how amateur my painting would look but figured it'd give it the ole' college try.

One of my friends invited me to the private event put on by her in honor of April birthdays.  My birthday isn't in April but I'm down for celebrating.  A local business brought all the supplies and gave a lesson on how to paint a dogwood tree in moonlight.

The fee for participation was $35.  I'm not going to enter any art competitions but I don't think I did too bad for a person who can hardly draw a stick figure.  I'd totally do it again!

On another crafty note, my husband came home yesterday with this finished wooden cross piece.  I had shown him a picture some time ago of a friend who owns one.  Knowing I liked it, Jason took it upon himself to make one and surprise me.  He's a swell guy!

What creative abilities do you have?
Have you ever taken part in a canvas painting party?

Art has always been a part of my life. I prefer sketching, ink drawings, and watercolors. I love seeing group pictures at these painting events because it's so cool to see all of the different interpretations and creations that everyone ends up with.

This would be fun for all types of people. Everyone needs art in their life.

I’ve been painting since the age of three and have no plans to quit. I have always admired that art form and think of it as one humanities most honorable expressions.

Beautiful paintings! I've never taken part in a canvas painting party, but would absolutely love to! Hopefully someday!
