What do you get when you combine family roots from the heart of Dixie with a girl born and raised in California?  You get some seriously delicious comfort food just like your grandmother used to make.  With Lori Rogers known as Chef Lorious, you also get new and innovative twists on classic recipes we all love.  In her first cookbook, Calibama Cooking, Lori puts it all together in a delicious

Anybody who knows me can tell you that I rarely cook. It's usually my husband that makes the meals. When I get in the mood to cook or bake, it has to be something simple with ingredients that I can easily purchase. Even when it is my husband doing the cooking, I do the shopping and am always on the lookout for new recipes that will feed our large family at a decent price.

Calibama Cooking has a ton of recipes for delicious meals.  The cookbook itself is hardcover and includes beautiful food photos.  Recipes are divided into sections which include:
Small Plates and Starters
Soups, Chowders, and Stews
Main Courses
Seafood
Sides and Veggies
Breads
Sweet Stuff

A couple recipes that I will be making soon are Pumpkin Brown-Sugar Pound Cake (for our Christmas Eve dinner) and Cajun Chicken Pasta (because it sounds oh-so-good).  The dishes sound and look so delicious, yet most of them are easy enough for me to make.  To add a personal feel, Chef Lorious uses stories of her own of memories that include food.
