Fourth of July Weekend at Woodyz Acres

overly expensive branded silicone cup I purchased because I'm a sucker like that

Happy Easter 4th of July!

Woodyz Acres in Missouri has become a frequent spot for me and my husband this summer.  We've gotten a permanent spot for our pop-up and go there when the opportunity arises.  My husband was actually helping a guy's firework company out by setting off the "big booms" around town so I spent the 4th of July weekend without him.

Tasha playing Bingo. She didn't win but I sure did!

Alyla's hair done up to resemble a star

It was hotter than the 7th Level Of Hades but I had a good time.  Friday evening the campground put on their own fireworks display.  Legit, it was one of the best I've seen!  And, I had great seats.

An acquaintance thought it'd be funny to put a deer head in front of our pop-up, as campground decor.  We rolled with it and bought a patriotic bow for the dandy deer.

Alyla shooting off sparklers

Saturday started off with an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids (yeah, you read that right).  Not sure why it was planned but it kept the kids entertained.  And, they got lots of candy.  Later that evening I was surprised with a visit from my son, Adam.  He lives in Indiana and wanted to surprise me with taking the six-hour drive to see me.  He and I, along with some friends, played old-fashioned Bingo.  I went away with $33 and a Woodyz Acres hat.  After Bingo, we went across the field to watch a fireworks display put on by a group who owns a fireworks stand.  Then Adam left and off to bed I went.

I looked halfway decent on Friday evening.  Saturday the heat turned me into a Hot Mess Express.

My boy came to visit me!!

How was your 4th of July weekend?

Foodie Surprise Food Carts - Toy Review

It seems that "surprise" collectible toys are the rage these days.  I'll admit, I see the allure.  I had my great-nephew and great-niece over the other day to play with Foodie Surprise Food Carts, a candy-making collectible.  We all had a good time "making" pepperoni pizzas and the kids were excited they got a toy out of the deal too.

I recommend that adult supervision be used when younger kids play with Foodie Surprise.  That's only because there's some instructions and disassembly that are required.  Upon opening the package, kids will see which Food Cart they receive. Kids will discover a variety surprise ingredients and supplies that will let them create their own edible candy

some of the ingredient packets and items needed for the gummy candy

The ingredients and supplies needed to create the gummy candy are located inside the plastic cart, so it has to be taken apart first to get the items.  It's after that when you can put the cart back together and it can be played with.  With the exception of room temperature water, all supplies are included. After following the instructions and putting the candy in the fridge for a few minutes, the kids were able to nosh on their new candy creation.  Harley and MaKynzee had a blast with Foodie Surprise and have already requested more for their birthdays.

7th Heaven Charcoal Peel-Off Face Mask - Review

7th Heaven offers face masks and other natural skin care products to make your skin look and feel its best, all without breaking the bank. The most recent I've been able to review is their Charcoal Peel Off Face Mask.

The 7th Heaven Charcoal Peel Off Face Mask comes in a packet and there's enough for one use per packet. Before applying, you should first cleanse your face with water. Then you apply a thick layer of the cream over your face and neck. Because it has a thick, creamy texture I have to use my finger to get down into the pouch to get all of it out. Once the cream is applied, you should let it set on your face for 10-15 minutes. It has a whitish gray tint. While you're waiting around for the mask to set, you can always go around the house creeping your husband out. One of you will think it's funny.
The peel-away format makes the mask naturally exfoliating and helps remove dirt, oil and dead skin cells in one 15 - 20 minute session.

The main ingredients in the Charcoal Peel Off Face Mask are birch leaf, witch hazel, and charcoal.  After applying it to my face, I can feel the formulation take affect. My skin starts to tighten and feel firmer. It almost feels like dry, cracked glue.

I let the mask stay on my skin for approximately 20 minutes, then peel it off. I'm able to mostly peel off the mask in large layers but there are some areas where I have to gently scratch my skin to get the whole mask off. I've learned the peeling process works better when you make sure your face is completely covered with the gel to begin with, rather than in big spots. When stripping the mask, it looks like dead skin or a bad sunburn flaking off. Once the mask is completely removed from your face, the final step is to rinse your face with water.

I have dull, damaged skin and wear makeup often so I'm impressed that the peel-off mask makes my skin feel super clean and firm. I can see visual results that are assuring and efficient.

Finally Got To Kayak on the River

As a surprise Mother's Day gift, my husband purchased me a kayak.  My friend's husband did the same. #Twinsies

Hubby kayaked with me the first time but his was a rental. Trying to talk him into buying his own.

We had to wait for COVID restrictions to be somewhat lifted and for decent weather, but we finally got the kayaks out on the river.  We've been twice now and I've absolutely loved it.  It's definitely something I can see doing often this summer.

Chester Chipmunk Will Not Sleep - Children's Book Review

Book Overview:

Released January 22, 2020

Chester Chipmunk will not sleep!

It's bedtime in the nook of Cherry Hill, but Chester Chipmunk just can't sleep! He's had too much fun playing today, and he isn't ready to stop now. Good thing Mom knows a trick or two to help change his mind! Join Mama Chipmunk and Chester on a whimsical journey to discover all the many adventures that await in his dreams!

My Review:

A bedtime story told in rhythmic form, Chester Chipmunk Will Not Sleep tells of an imaginative chipmunk who has a hard time falling asleep because there's still so much left to do.  His mother talks to him about how Chester can still use his imagination, only in his dreams.  After all, he may dream about bowling with baboons or seeing a tiger with no stripes.

This short bedtime story is very creative with words and may even entice your little one to sleep!

Our Youngest Has Graduated...In A Whole New Way

Allyson and Juliann donning their masks

Of our six kids, the last one has graduated high school.  Emma Nicole had quite the year, with this quarantine and all.  She didn't get to celebrate her last day of school, prom, or senior trip.  And her graduation was one for the books.  But, she's taken it well for the most part and is ready for the next chapter of her life.  She will be starting at a local community college in the fall to get credentials to be a Vet Tech.

Emma with her older, but shorter, sister

Rather than a regular graduation ceremony, Emma was allowed only six people to attend.  She was given a time slot of 9:30 AM to walk across the gym floor while her people cheered her on.  We had to wear masks during the ceremony (minus her and her mom) but was able to take them off for pics.  It was pretty short and simple, but definitely memorable.

Heck Of A Mother's Day 2020

Another Mother's Day on the books!  I had a really good one this year, minus not being able to see all the kids.  Hope you were able to enjoy your day as well.

The evening before, while at a friend's house, Jason and JJ surprised me and Tasha with brand new kayaks.  Now we're just waiting on the weather to get nicer so we can row on water instead of land.  I've never been before, so any tips from those that have would be great.

On the actual day of, Logan and Shelby came over to visit and give gifts.  Shelby got me some makeup primer, and Logan purchased me a card with $15 Starbucks gift card.  I also received a package in the mail from Adam with a wooden angel sign and $25 Texas Roadhouse gift card.  Logan and Allyson also made me strawberry Jell-O cake (one of my faves!)

Me, Logan and Shelby stopped by Dairy Queen drive-thru and ordered my mom's favorite meal, Chicken Strip Baskets.  We stopped by her grave and "had lunch" with her.

I'm blessed to be a mother to a blended family of six kids.  We haven't been perfect parents but our kids have grown into pretty great young adults.

Received My First BoxyCharm...And I'm Hooked!

I like trying different kinds of makeup and skincare products.  I'm not particularly loyal to any certain brands, but like to play around with different ones.  My daughter is big-time into makeup and recently introduced me to BoxyCharm.  She's been a subscriber for a few months now.  I went over to her house and she showed me some of the products she's received.  Didn't take me long to sign up for myself!

BoxyCharm is a monthly box subscription of makeup, skincare products, and beauty tools.  The cost is $25/month with free shipping for the base subscription, and you receive over $100 worth of items.  A fairly comprehensive quiz is taken upon sign-up so you get products detailed to your likes/wants/needs.  For instance, I don't like false eyelashes so I requested that I don't receive any.

Anyway, I won't bore you with it all.  Go check out BoxyCharm for yourself!  Use my referral code Terra-GFNXYXVD at checkout.  If the future boxes are as cool as the one I recently received, I'll definitely continue to be a subscriber.

Salonpas to the Rescue for Mother’s Day - Review and Giveaway

For mom’s who are suffering from pain, a Mothers’ day gift filled with Salonpas® will reduce pain and be appreciated by Mom!  I invite you to consider including the Salonpas suite of products in your Mother’s Day gifts.

The developer of the first and only FDA-approved OTC topical pain reliever, Salonpas products are used by virtually anyone who is suffering from mild to moderate pain – even celebrities.  Without entering the pay-for-play celebrity branding world, Salonpas products have been independently touted by Kris Jenner, Al Roker, Kristin Chenoweth, Angie Harmon, Erika Jayne, Nicole Eggert, and Lena Dunham to name a few!

Salonpas offers a full product suite that includes Salonpas HOT, Salonpas Lidocaine Plus Pain Relieving Liquid, Salonpas Lidocaine Plus Pain Relieving Cream, Salonpas Lidocaine Pain Relieving Gel-Patch, Salonpas® Pain Relieving Patch, Salonpas  DEEP Relieving Gel, Salonpas Pain Relief Patch Large, Salonpas  Pain Relieving Gel-Patch Hot, and Salonpas Pain Relieving Jet Spray.

By putting the medicine right at the site of pain, bypassing the stomach and liver, Salonpas can use less medicine to deliver an effective dose. Try it and see for yourself that Salonpas offers powerful relief when and where you need it.

I'm no stranger to Salonpas.  I've received and used it in the past, especially on my mother when she was alive and living with me.  She suffered with pain, and Salonpas helped ease that.  As much as I hate to admit it, I'm not getting any younger.  And with the rise in age comes the rise in aches and pains.  I don't have any chronic health problems but do suffer from joint and muscle pain from time to time.  Even more, my husband is on his feet all day and works hard as a custodian in the church.  I'm not saying we're a bunch of living fossils but we have our fair share of hurts between us.

Salonpas is a leader in external analgesic products, and I like it as much now as I have in the past.   The company name Salonpas comes from its active ingredient, Methyl Salicylate.  Methyl Salicylate passes through the skin and goes directly to the site of your pain, right where it hurts.  Their products are intended to provide symptomatic relief of conditions where pain is present.  Gels, patches, and sprays are formulated to administer pain alleviation.  I'm a fan of the entire line but my favorite is the Salonpas DEEP Relieving Gel.  It feels good when it's being applied and makes my body instantly feel better.

As with any other pain relief products, there's precautions to follow.  It's important to read and follow directions for each product.  Salonpas does not take the place of the importance of seeing a doctor but their products can and do provide temporary relief for aches and pains.  I, along with others in my household, have benefited and felt the relief.  Salonpas is an alternative for pain sufferers who prefer to avoid the use of oral OTC pain relief medication labeled for only minor aches and pains. Unlike an oral medication, the active ingredients in Salonpas® is absorbed through the skin and go directly to the pain site.

Win It!

One person will win the entire line of Salonpas pain relief products.

I received products for review.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.
